Storm Guard DIY in progress

I chopped down the top, put the lascannons under the wing (not quite as cramped as may seem from this photo) and magnatized the dread. I've already built 12,000 points and sprayed them red. I want to start putting them up to motivate the LONG painting process...

And it's such a simple conversion! Just one small slab of card with two or three decoration bitz everybody and their psyber-mastiff has, and you've turned it into a model I'd actually pay for.

Thanks.

My only niggle is that the Dreadnought is facing the bum of the Thunderchicken. Shouldn't he be holstered the other way around? To chuck missiles down upon the foe...or at least at what's left?

Not really, think about it. The Storm Raven lands, disgorges a squad from the front hatch, drops the dread and flies back up with the dread immediately opening fire on the enemy while the marines move into position.

If the Dread was backwards as you suggest as soon as it was deployed and the Storm Raven flew away it's rear armor would be exposed to enemy fire and it would have to turn around before it could begin firing at them.

Think about it a little longer. It would take a few seconds at least for those Marines to disembark, during which the Dread could unlatch and get walking. If it waits for the Raven to get airborne once more, that's precious seconds of it's flank exposed while it waits on it's younger brothers to exit their vehicle.

(Caveat: from a gameplay angle, yes you're perfectly right, I'm just hitting it from the fluff angle.)

Here's some more stormraven shots. The dread backwards is an interesting idea, but it is tight in there as I've mounted it (easy with the "she said") I tried him backwards and it looks odd.

My first WIP tactical squad. I'll slowly post the whole lot as 12,000 points is to this stage - converted (here and there) sprayed red and washed with grey bases. One squad is done in Hall of Honor. Hello, B&C, happy to join the party...
