Masters and Grand Masters and Azrael, oh my!

Just reading through this and came across a couple of things that made me first double take and then shake my head...

Firstly, all Dark Angels Librarians are inducted into the Inner Circle, one of their primary duties is to help in the interrogation of captured prisoners/Fallen. If they weren't inducted into some of the deeper mysteries they might just come across something in the line of said duties that made them go " What the...?". This really should be common knowledge to any Dark Angels/Unforgiven player. ^_^

Gotta keep the o9ld codexes in mind too though. Librarians haven't always immediately been inducted into the Inner Circle upon achieving battle brother status. This is new to C: DA 4E. Previously, all Librarians were immediately inducted into the Deathwing, not the Inner Circle. It is not a bad change, as Librarians are usually mind readers to one degree or another, and it is hard to keep a secret from a mind reader.

As to interrogating Fallen, I doubt they bring in the Lexicanium n00bs to do that. As it is such an important task, even Codiciers might only be observers unless they have particular skill in mind-reading/breaking of the will. Epistolaries or Ezekiel would be the Librarians to aid in most interrogations.

I was keeping the old Codexes in mind...

I thought that rather than just saying "sorry but you're wrong" I'd give proof. Codex Angels of Death - the very first Codex for the Dark Angels (albeit a shared one), has Librarians as Inner Circle too. Click on the images to see a full size version, but be warned these are big images (didn't have my 3E Codex handy or I would scanned the ToE in that too).

Even in the Deathwing and Inner Circle there are gradations of knowledge. Yes, all Librarians are inducted into the Inner Circle (perhaps the Deathwing first), but that does not mean that they are immediately given full knowledge or that they immediately begin interrogating captured Fallen. As far as the latter goes, the capture of a Fallen Angel is rare enough--and important enough--that librarian duties would usually go to the most senior librarian present, which I would imagine will very rarely be a Lexicanium or even a Codicier.

I don't recall ever suggesting that was the case, the only thing I did say was that they are inducted into the Inner Circle on their induction into the Chapter/Librarium, for which I was poo-pooed by some people.

I thought it easiest to post evidence to enlightened those less well informed people, rather than beat my head against a wall...
