Temple Knights

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I've recently decided to get out some of my old models and see if I can actually take some time and do a bit of painting and here's the results:

Its not a very good picture so i'll try and get a better one at some point.

I also can't decide on a name for the chapter, I'm thinking something along the lines of The Temple Knights.

Comments and such would be helpful, cheers,

Kanithon

Looks quite decent, and I must admit that I´m loving the white + turquoise colour scheme (it's a thing, mine are white/electric blue with a bit of turquoise :P)

I am quite curious how you tackled this - did you undercoat white, washed and drybrushed it up to where it is now?

Also, the backpack, bolter (metal bits), aquila and shoulderpads could use some more love, mostly shading to make them stand out a bit more and to get the marine to a nice table top quality!

It's good for a start. I like that you managed to do white without globbing. The shoulderpads seem a little streaky, however. In an odd way, they look like they were paper and you used a crayon...just a little thought about what the texture looks like. The color itself is nice. Try instead of 'painting' on each successive layer, you use heavy drybrushing, as it's a practically streak-free way of doing things. Also, try starting out with your white basecoat and use a quick wash of Asurmen Blue to even out the 'blueness'.

Thanks for the replies =]

I think it could be the shoulder pads I used as I took off a symbol that was on it, so I may have to replace them.

For the white;

- I spray the models white and then give them a basecoat of a light grey

- Mixed up bestial brown, codex grey and a bit of chaos black and watered it down into a wash and applied this to all the recesses.

- I then went back and fixed any mistakes that I made.

- and finally highlighted with watered down skull white.

The shoulder pads were painted with hawk tortoise and then given them a wash of bestial brown mixed with a little chaos black.

I may try watering down asurman blue even more so that it’s barely blue and applying that over the model so theres a slight blue hint in the white if you think that would work?

Kanithon.

I would only use the blue wash if you intend to go the blue/grey to white route, the wash you used is more like the bone to white route. Perhaps a more grey/blue oriented could tie in nicely with the turquoise...

Then again, experiment and see what you like ;) Happy painting to you

Done a little bit more on my as of yet unnamed white marines.

To start off with, my current commander:

http://i309.photobucket.com/albums/kk372/kanithon/SAM_0749.jpg

and then a Squad leader,

and another standard marine

http://i309.photobucket.com/albums/kk372/kanithon/SAM_0751.jpg

and finally a terminator

http://i309.photobucket.com/albums/kk372/kanithon/SAM_0752.jpg

personally I think that look a bit rubbish and plain with the white bases and without the shoulder pads coloured but I like how they turn out when they're finished

hope you like them.

Nearly 1000 views and no one?

that seems to happen pretty often ;)

i love the colour scheme, your white is really nice ;)

fantastic cape on the commander!

i'm not sure about your squadleader though, is he fixed to the base yet? i think he leans to much to his left (plasma side).

I think he is slightly leaning that way but he's meant to look like he's sprinting forward.

The commander is basically just the master of the fleet model with a chaos space marine head (I think)

and the arm and storm bolter from the commander sprue

More Photos later as I've finish a squad now and the commander.

hmn i think he would look more like sprinting with his arms repositioned so that the lightning claw points forward and the other arm back a little.

Commanders finished:

realised looking at this picture that there some flash that needs to be taken off and that I should colour the casing of the storm bolter as it looks pretty bland

I moved the Sergeants arms like you suggested Wicced:

and the finish Sergeant and his squad:

and then the start of the Sergeant for the next tactical squad:

and then my customized Sternguard squad:

Well, it's been a while and I could have probably updated sooner, but I've now finished the second tactical squad for the Temple Knights

and the Sergeant:

Not sure if I'm happy with how the helmets, highlighted...

and some other shots:

Also tried a different way of painting skin as I'd never really tried back in the day, I went for a darker skin tone this time:

Comments and Criticism would be appreciated, cheers.

They look great sir. As above, the bases will really finish them off nicely.

As a suggestion though: I'm concerned that a black/grey base will not make the models 'pop'. I believe that a brown base (same style as you mentioned - drybrushed textured base) with maybe some static grass will contrast with models, add some colour to the units and really make them stand out.

Just my thoughts..

Thanks for the comments guys,

Have to say, wasn't over fond of these but the more I look at them. I'm really digging the colour scheme and your work so far, specially the sergeant.

Thanks, tried to make the sergeants unique and took a bit of extra time over them.

I thought about that, but decided against it because there's quite a lot of brown on the model, but then i guess it would tie it all in. I'll try out both and see what people think, it'll either be black base and snow, or brown base and grass.

They look like PH World Eaters, very well done ones at that.

Thanks, never thought of that when I picked the scheme, but I'm happy with that link as I've always liked the fluff for the loyalist World Eaters
