Pre-Heresy Iron Hands

The pose on the sergeant character is excellent, I love how he's holding the helmet. One thing you might want to look into that could add some fun to the army, I did on my Iron Hands model. Theres a set of steam punk weapons on max mini, and theres axes and swords, they have cog shaped blades and bionics on the hilts. i used a massively long axe for my guy and it turned out awesome.

Also, Forgeworlds character conversion kit with the bionic legs and arms and stuff also makes a good look.

And someone mentioned about the fluff on iron hands, i know upon joinging the chapter or legion, they have their left arm replaced immediately, not sure if it has anythign to do with ferrus though, i think they where doing it before

keep up the great work, i loves me some iron hands!

Cheers guys. I will be getting back to these asap but haven't had much time of late to do anything hobby related.

The approach I'm taking with these guys is to go back and look at how the Legion might have been before their introduction to the Medusian culture and how it is intra-grated in to the Legion. From what we do know the mechanicus had strong ties with the legion from the beginning of the crusade but it's not currently clear whether their obsession with bionics comes from the time of the Unity Wars where the proto-astartes are described as bionically augmented warriors (think it was in A Thousand Sons), whether this was an aspect of their ties to the ad mech from an early stage or whether it was something from the Medusian culture itself.

What I'm doing by setting the army just after the discovery of Mannus is taking the approach that although bionics are in use at this stage they are still very much in the mindset that endurance of the flesh is basically viable up until the point that it becomes unusable. So the Terrans are big on scars but may have different views to the Iron Fathers that are currently being introduced who consider it the "Blessing of Iron."

It's a bit like that bit in predator where the guy says "I ain't got time to bleed!" :tu:

I utterly love your First Sergeant Mordecai, so much in fact that I built the Sergeant of my Mk2 and Mk3 armored Sternguard Squad in his image (albeit a more fair-faced, less-grizzled Blood Angel version). The basic is pretty much identical to Mordecai's but my Sergeant is looking the other way and his armour is much more ornate. I hope you don't take offense to me imitating your model but it was too good not to, if you'd like I'll post a picture of him here once he's finished. :P

Cheers guys. ;)

NemFX: As soon as I get the chance mate I'll see what I can do. :D

SanguiniusReborn: Not at all mate, it's the main reason I post pictures on the B&C. ;) Once you got him finished start a thread in the WIP or Hall of Honour forums and send me a link as I'd really like to see it mate. ;)

Oh cool, I'd almost forgotten about this thread. Hmm, that reminds me, I must get around to finishing my own MK.2/3 Sternguard squad...

Hey Doghouse, are you gonna carry on with these guys? Better yet, are you gonna get them every Iron Hand's wetdream: a Contemptor Dreadnought?

It's rather strange actually, despite the Iron Hands supposedly being Dread-lovers I've yet to see a single IH Contemptor...

Cheers guys!

Yeah I will be updating but going to be adding some IW warriors into the mix as well, I am working on an IH contemptor for them as well but not a lot to show as I've just started assembling him. Been hard at work on some original sculpts at the moment which is taking up a lot of my time but will be getting back to these asap. :)
