2 Scratchbuilt Nurgle Daemon Princes

Well hello hello, I believe this is my first post of my stuff on this board.

So other than the GW Nurgle DP I am quite disappointed in the range of DP's that are out there for purchasing and converting. So, I decided to hell with it, and made my own. I present you the leaders of my force! I'm at a lack of names right now so I call one "Fat Man," and the other "Flying Lard." Fat Man will be getting new wings in the mail quite soon from the new plastic DP.

I sculpted these from about a year ago up until a month ago, working little at a time on them. Flying Lard came first, and then Fat Man joined him after I decided I was ready to up it a notch. Without further ado, here they are:

Flying Lump: Brought into battle by 3 jump marines that lug him thru the air using heavy chains.

I took these pictures months ago. His chains are finished and he is almost thru painting. This is my raw greens thread though and I have no new pics of him, so here he is as of 8 months ago.

Now, after my girlfriend pointed out that he has a notable lack of decay to him, I went into overdrive mode. I realized that yes, Flying Lard really was too clean to be a tried and true nurgle DP.

So I present: Fat Man!

I will post pics of the painted and finished models. Right now I've been too busy finishing the army's display board and some new tanks to bother painting them, but their time will come.

After previewing the post, wow, this stuff looks really bad from my camera and light. It's a lot better irl, wth... gotta find a way to fix that, I feel embarassed. ;)

These are some of the most original daemon princes I've seen, brilliant sculpting work dude <_<

"Flying lard" is my favourite the way hes being carried by the raptors is just really characterful, what material have you sculpted them in?

I use a material called Aves Apoxiesculpt. It has a longer working time than green stuff and when it cures it's rock hard. That's both a blessing and a curse though cause once somethings dried it's never coming off, for good or worse. I use the red color stuff because tbh I thought this was gonna be a khorne army lol, but they come in all colors, color doesn't affect quality. Both of these guys are actually a paint pot that was dried up, the lids been taken off and half of it was chopped off so I could have them with erupting spines. Their bases are old apoxiesculpt lids that have had their contents all used up Once the main body was sculpted and before detail work, i added them to their bases using 1/16" steel wire going through the foot and all the way to the head, the wire goes through that guardsman in fact that's the only reason he's there. On fat man after I finished him he was unstable because of the heavy wings so I spent a hell of a time bending wire through his crouching leg.

@shotgunfacelift: thanks, those meat hooks were the inspiration behind this, I've wanted to use those for something like this forever.

@daggitkiller: thanks for the support!

@_maelstrom_: the above text block was for your question. :-) flying lard was pretty fun once done but I'll admit was a pain in the ass to sculpt over a foot of chains, those little 4 inch segments of putty really add up.

@Sterbtemplar: thanks! So far he's my favorite as well even though I think I botched the face. Oh well can't undo that now lol.

@ sons of Horus: above text block is for your question.

Thanks for the comments and questions!
