My Sons of Russ

I had a request to post some of my models so they could get a look at the paint scheme. Nothing fancy really just a combination I was playing around with that I think looks pretty cool.

Anywho here are some pics. I have been playing Wolves since Rogue Trader. I have alot of stuff that I have never taking pics of. I am not the best painter nor the best with a camara. I am still on the bottom of the learning curve when it comes to taking photos of mini's.

My paint scheme is

Fenris Grey

Wash w/ Asurmen Blue

Highlight w/ Shadow Grey

Final Highlight with Ice Blue.

I have since painted the Ultramarines shoulder black and yellow. He is Wolf Lord on Bike and was built for a specific tourney. My partner was playing Ultramarines.

Rune Priest work in progress.

The whole army is now around 5000 pts or so. Maybe more. I am still practicing with highlighting and stuff. I am alot better with my washes but highlighting without drybrushing is difficult. Still learning. Any tips you all have would be great.

Thanks,

No offence to you good sir but i think your colours are too ultramariney, you need to have them shadow grey with lighter grey highlights or literally just paint them codex grey considering shades and highlights. The biker is good, get rid of the ultramarine shoulder pad.

They look excellent, good choice on having thunderwolves! you are a true wolf!

I just figured that was the Ultra-wolves Chapter. :P

A buddy and I played in a team tourney together (Battle for Supremacy). He was playing an Ultramarines Bike army and I of course was playing Wolves (the real Marines). I built that Lord for the sake of Synergy with his army as he was using Khan and alot of Outflanking. I wanted my Lord to be able to support his guys quickly. I put the shoulder pad on him for the sake of Team spirit. It is Black and Yellow and looks good. Sort of a battle honor from the tourney. (We went from getting maxed our first game to finish 4th) The shoulder pad will have to stay ^_^ . That guy (who is now my Standard HQ Lord Argus ShadowWolf) got his butt handed to him his first game out and then has proceeded to lay the smack on everything he touches. I am running a Wolf Priest on Bike with him and together they are really tearing it up.

As for the color I was going for a deep oceans and ice kinda look. I think the look in the Codex is too bright and fluffy for the hard asses the Wolves are and everyone seems to be doing Grey nowadays so I tinkered around and came up with the scheme you see. Admittedly it does have alot of blue but it I think the blue fits more with who they are. That is just my opinion. Thanks for complements.
