thunderwolf cavalry "conversion" idea, opinions?

I reckon I've seen someone do that on this forum... forget who it was though.

Come to think of it, he might of used vampire counts dire wolves, you know, making the bone metal and the muscle into metal cabels or something like that

that was fast, i'm gonna buy some dread bases tommorow. i thought the idea was ok but you never know when you tick a nerve and end up with a dozen people screaming "THEY'RE TOO SHORT, YOU GET TOO MANY COVER SAVES YOU BEARDY GIT" and you get hit in the head with a gazgull model.
They would be too short for tourney play

Says who? Is there a height requirement for them that I don't know about?

If you are playing at a competitive tournament, opponents will probably want something that is 'cavalry height' and not just a Marine.

Khorne Juggernauts, Slaanesh Fiends and Canis himself are all taller and bigger than a Marine.

Opponents would say that the model used is smaller than it out to be and so you could hide it out of TLoS and not get shot at all, whereas you'd get seen and given cover if you were using a bigger model.

But there's no official rule for "cavalry height". So they may just have to suck eggs.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating anyone should try to model for game advantage. I think a way to raise the model a bit higher would be sportsmanlike, something we should all take care to do. And honestly, I think a big rock with one of the wolves leaping off it would look great! However, there's no rule against it (unless of course the TO makes one).
