Battle Brother Armenius

Tactical Squad Therenus, 4th Company

Background:

The Druidic Knights are a Codex Chapter that places heavy emphasis on adaptability. A Raven Guard successor, they have chosen the route of the raptors and use similar tactics to them. They see themselves as the ideal knights, protectors of the weak. Their concern for humanity is eclipsed only by that of the Salamanders. The Druidic Knight Librarians are masters of sword fighting, and the Chief Librarian attains his rank by winning a dueling tournament. When the Chief Librarian is killed in battle, the next one is determined through another tournament. The Chapter constantly holds various tournament style competitions in aspects ranging from marksmanship and swordfighting to obstacle courses and piloting. Scouts promoted to Battle Brother status are put in a tactical squad until they specialize in either assault or devastator, or stay as tactical marines.

Origin: The Druidic Knights are a chapter from the 3rd founding in m32. They were created due to the Raven Guard's strength slowly returning and with it their ability to create new chapters. The Druidic Knights fought in several campaigns soon after their creation, and established a fortress monastery on the world of Ohilan, a borderline forge world with no pdf as mechanicus forces are responsible for keeping the peace and security of Ohilan when the Druidic Knights are campaigning.

Homeworld: Ohlian is a world on the border of becoming a forge world. The Adeptus Mechanicus has a peacekeeping force on the planet, eliminating the need for a PDF and excluding the world from having to recruit guard regiments. This allows the Druidic Knights to choose the finest recruits from the population. Ohilan's status and manufacturing capabilities allow the Druidic Knights to manufacture and make use of mk2-mk8 power armor and all of the vehicles commonly used by the Space Marines as well as their variants. One vehicle produced and used in great numbers is the Stormraven, vital to the Knights' tactics.

Organization: The Druidic Knights are organized as a standard codex chapter, with a few deviances. and maintain a large scout company. The Chapter is led by a Grand Master. Each company is led by a Master of the Order (the equivalent of a captain). Armored transports, tanks, and air support are common to each company, as Ohilan's forges can produce them in large quantities. Company and squad designations can be found on the right and left kneepads, respectively.

Combat Doctrine: The Druidic Knights Focus heavily on adaptability; it is for this reason that the Chapters battle companies have two adaptable squads, which can either be tactical, assault, or devastator depending on the mission requirements. They pride themselves in being able to quickly react to changing battlefield conditions.

Seriously. Did I miss the memo about Raptor Appreciation Week?

The Raven Guard geneseed is seriously unstable. They need shipments from the Ad. Mech to maintain their viability. Be cautious.

If they're so worried about adaptability, why choose a Chief Librarian based on a contest that tests only one aspect of his skills?

And if they're so keen on adaptability, why encourage such specialization?

If the Mechanicus own the place, they're not giving it up. If they don't, I can't imagine them being willing to defend it.

Homeworld: Ohlian is a world on the border of becoming a forge world.

OK...please explain what you mean by this. This could actually be a really interesting hook to hang a Chapter on - political conflicts with the Mechanicus over the world, trying to decide whether to stay, go, or something in between, etc. But right now it's not that clear what you mean.

Why would they produce Mk2 etc? Mk 6+ were basically superior to all the previous marks.

I'm not a big fan of the name. They're not very Druish, for one thing. Why name them the Druidic Knights?

Not uninteresting, but I think you should figure out what you want the Chapter to be about/the IA to explore, then focus on bringing that forward. Both adaptability and the whole borderline-Forge-World thing offer some potential, but the borderline Forge World thing raises some serious questions about how politics seems to work in the Imperium - remember, both the Astartes and Mechanicus are virtually independent from the Imperium. They can't both own the world.

I quite like the scheme.
