Captain Ardias

Uriel Ventris (the ancestor)

Lucius Ventris

Chief librarian Ptolemus

upgrade characters

Sergeant Learchus

Sergeant Pasanius

any other suggestions before we start the ball rolling?

From the first link in my signature:

Legendary Captains

1st Company (Veteran Company)

Invictus (Deceased) 140pts

Invictus uses the standard Captain Profile and options.

Stubborn

Plasma Blaster

Invictus carries an unusual Ultramarine relic, the plasma blaster. This counts as a twin-linked Plasma Gun. It may be taken for 15pts in exchange for either Invictus’ Bolt Pistol or, if he is in Terminator Armour, his Storm Bolter.

Regent of Ultramar

3rd Company (Battle Company)

Ardias (Deceased) 150pts

Ardias is armed with Artificer Armour and a Relic Blade, which replaces his Chainsword. Ardias always placed great pride in his carefully crafted Artificer Armour and never replaced it with Terminator Armour. He has access to other options as usual.

Master of the Armoury

OPTIONAL RULE: Desperate times…

On one occasion, Ardias joined forces with the Tau to fight the forces of Chaos. Their co-operation, in fact, was unprecedented, especially given the brutality of the Imperial Invasion. However, these events were ironic and tragic, for soon after, Ardias was cut down by the Tau

-In Apocalypse games, Ardias may not ally with a Tau player, unless one of the opposing players is Chaos.

-If Ardias and the Tau are fighting Chaos, all Tau within 12” of Ardias may use his leadership for any leadership tests they are required to take.

-In combat, Tau gain Preferred Enemy against Ardias.

4th Company (Battle Company)

Ideaus (Deceased) 145pts

Ideaus uses the standard Captain Profile and options. For 25pts he may take an Orbital Bombardment (as detailed in the Chapter Master entry). Ideaus must exchange his Chainsword for a Power Weapon and take a Pistol weapon (either use the free Bolt Pistol or pay for a Plasma Pistol). The points for Ideaus’ Power Weapon are included above.

Iron Fist

Ideaus was renowned for his skill in hand-to-hand combat and his exquisitely crafted weapon. These qualities meant that Ideaus was capable of a very fluid fighting style, adapting his attacks for either great foes, or a great many.

Ideaus may wield his Power Weapon as a typical one handed weapon, or use it two-handed as a Relic Blade. If he uses it one handed, he may still gain his extra attack from the bolt pistol.

Master of the Fleet

4th Company (Battle Company)

Uriel Ventris 115pts

Ventris uses the standard Captain Profile and options. Ventris must exchange his Chainsword for a Power Weapon. The points for Ventris’ Power Weapon are included above.

Land-lubber

Uriel Ventris makes no effort to hide his unfamiliarity with space combat. He has even gone so far as to cede command of space based operations to Admiral Lazlo Tiberius.

-Uriel Ventris may be fielded in the same detachment as Lazlo Tiberius. This is an exception to the rule that two captains may not be in the same detachment.

Rhino Surfing

Uriel Ventris, in his time, has resorted to some rather unorthodox tactics in battle. One particular incident of note was during the battle for Tarsis Ultra. Eschewing the traditional mode of transport, Ventris indulged in what the rest of the 4th Company jokingly called ‘Rhino Surfing’

-Uriel Ventris may be transported by a Rhino without occupying a transport slot. However, he may do nothing while on the Rhino except hold for dear life and may not shoot from it. Other models may not also shoot from the top hatch of the Rhino. At the end of each movement phase that he travels in this manner, roll a d6. On a 1, Ventris falls off, which probably serves him right. He counts as ‘Gone to Ground’ until his next player turn.

Upgrade Characters

4th Company Sergeant

Pasanius 45pts

Pasanius is a Space Marine Sergeant. He is equipped with Artificer Armour and a Heavy Flamer. Pasanius may replace either a Tactical Sergeant or Command Squad Veteran in a 4th Company Army. He may not take any other equipment.

Cursed Blessing

After a battle on Pavonis, Pasanius lost one of his arms. Out of gratitude, the citizens of Pavonis created an artificial limb for the Sergeant. However, this limb had some unusual side-effects…

For 40pts, Pasanius may take his bionic arm. The bionic arm counts as a Power Fist and grants Feel No Pain, representing its ability to deflect fatal blows.

4th Company Sergeant

Learchus 10pts

One Tactical Squad may replace their Sergeant with Learchus.

Learchus counts as a Sergeant and may be given any equipment normally available to a Tactical Squad Sergeant. He grants Stubborn to any squad he is part of.

but i waas thinking specifically of

chapter master gage (heresy era)

artificer putin (motf)

captain orar (post heresy)

any other suggestions before we start the ball rolling?

Captain Ventanus, "the Savior of Calth"

Is there also a Lucius Mycander (Ultramarines Captain) somewhere?

EDIT: it was Captain Lucius Mysander, depicted about 8 pages before Marius Gage in Visions of Darkness.

Nice, i really like these guys, are you sure bolter drill wouldnt be more accurate for learchus?

ill post about the SCs later when i have more time..

im gunna update the OP with names and eventually the rules for the chosen SCs

To be honest, I hadn't considered Bolter Drill on Sergeants.

I think I gave Learchus Stubborn for his last stand at Tarsis Ultra.

I've not read any of the books after the opening trilogy though, so that's about the extent of my BL Ultras knowledge xD

Bolter Drill originally came from Veteran Sergeant Lysander in 3rd edition. He forgot it when he became a Terminator Captain in 4th edition, and then he remembered it again when he arose from the dead for 5th edition.

Bolter Drill should be an ability you can buy for Tactical Terminator and Sternguard Veteran Sergeants. That'd be amazing.

A also think Sternguard Sergeants should be allowed to buy Signums.

or maybe - Terminator/Sternguard Squads* automatically have Bolter Drill(maybe only for use with standard Bolter Ammo?), while Tactical Squads can get it as an upgrade. Would make the Tactical Squad more useful...

*Tactical Terminators are just Sternguard wearing TDA, so there's no reason they shouldn't get Bolter Drill too.

A lot of the heresy era Ultramarines are used in the Tempus Fugitive rules that GW unofficially did for a Gamesday tournament a while back. I don't have the rules with me here at work but I'll make a note of them when I get home. There are rules for Gage, Mysander, Scipio, Orar etc...

Scipio is a bike captain I think that gives special ammunition to the bike squad he is attached to (not including the anti-marine rounds seeing as they hadn't been invented during the heresy).

And Knight Champion Orar is also pretty cool. IIRC most of the characters are 3 wound models with Eternal Warrior and master crafted weapons.
