Storm Eaters

Hey Bolter and Chainsword. As my first forum, I wanted to present my first forum, a fictional chapter by the name of the Storm Eaters.

Chapter Name: Storm Eaters

Founding Chapter: Salamanders

Successor Chapters: None

Founding: 7th

Chapter Master: Vitus

Homeworld: Tartarus

Fortress-Monastary: Fortress of Storms

Colors: Yellow and blue

Speciality: Heavy Support

Battlecry: Like thunder and lightning, we devour our enemies. (Amo fragor quod ignis, nos edo nostrum hostilis)

Origins of the Storm Eaters

At the time of the 7th founding, the Salamander chapter had been constantly fighting a series of ork WAAAAGHS! over the past 10 years. Upon hearing that the High Lords of Terra had authorized the creation of another chapter, the current Chapter Master sent a request that the Salamander genestock be used to create another chapter that could easily be called upon to help the Salamanders

After 50 years, the Storm Eater chapter came out ready to take on the enemies of the Imperium. Within the span of half a year, the orks were damaged enough so that they could not reproduce fast enough to replace lost orks. The Chapter Master, Lord Damos, later changed the organization of the chapter so that it was similar to the Salamanders organization while still adhereing to the Codex Astartes somewhat.

Gene Seed

Like the Salamanders, their skinis black with red eyes and black or red hair.

Organization

Combat Doctrine

The Storm Eaters believe heavily in the use of heavy support, thus leading to Devastator 1 and 2 squads as the main unit of choice. The orgin of this belief came from the Salamanders, as the Salamanders kept more Devastator squads then other chapters. However, as they finished up with dealing with the orks, their style of fighting seemed to favor the use of heavy support, thus the high amount of Devastator squads and Predators. They also keep a heavily mechanized force for each company as they believe heavily in the use of vehicles. They also favor weapons that show a affinity to storm or forges like the Storm Bolter, Thunder Hammer, Lightning Claws, Flamers, and Plasma Guns.

Company Organization

The companies are organized into 100 men units, but the squad organization is different. A devastator 1 squad is tailored to be anti-infantry, with 2 Heavy Bolters and 2 Plasma Cannons. A devastator 2 squad is tailored to be anti-armor, having 2 multi-meltas and 2 Missile Launchers. Additionally, in a devastator 1 squad the five members who do not handle a heavy weapon or lead the squad can be equipped with combi-Flamer or a combi- grenade launcher, and the remaining members of a devastator 2 squads can be equipped with combi-melta gun or a combi-plasma gun.

Hey Bolter and Chainsword. As my first forum, I wanted to present my first forum, a fictional chapter by the name of the Storm Eaters.

obviously fictional, otherwise life would be a million times cooler if astartes were real ;)

first off, I love the name of the chapter. its different.

Like the Salamanders, their skin is white with black hair. They have also mutated in that the geneseed gave them a slight resistance to fire. This has lead to the Inquisition having a eye on them to look for signs of Chaos.

the raven guard is white with black hair, salamanders are black onyx skin with red eyes and grey/white or red hair. All astartes have a resistance to fire to a degree, as well as to poison and deep wounds. there astartes afterall......

in terms of squad organizaion here is my personal opinion:

1. instead of typical 6 tact 2 assault and 2 dev, have each company have a 5-2-3 ratio

2. keep the typical 6 tact-2-assault-2dev, but make 2-3 companies have a 5-2-3 ratio or 4-2-4

there needs to be more balance in the units because no chapter is going to be that overly powered in one squad unit, as it would leave them at a disadvantage.

and last, just from personal opinion, im not really feeling the color scheme, seems a bit cartoony, and would be a heck of a pain to paint but thats just my opinion. it would be cool to see a half/half scheme as there is not alot of those around, a half yellow, half blue I think would look quite nice. especially a darker yellow with a blue, that blue looks almost space wolves grey. the colors i think compliment each other nicely, but the scheme in how they are placed i personally don't like. but they are your marines my friend ;)

Hello and welcome in the Liber.

I recommend to read the Guide to DIYing or Octaguide 2.0, both of them provide good and comprehensive advices.

Now....

Storm Eaters Chapter based on the planet Thunder (Btw, there is cartoon with such planet) with the Fortress-Monastary Fortress of Storms. Hmmm... ;)

Latin for the thunder:

1.TONITRUS

2.FRAGOR

3.TONITRUM

4.BRONTE

Latin for lightning:

1.FULMEN

2.IGNIS

However, they lacked the proper leadership to fine-tune their fighting skills.

- According to the Liber and ForgeWorld, the fledgeling Chapters are trained and (temporary) lead by the Veterans from parent Chapter.

Thus, it became tradition for the 1st company captain to become the new chapter master once the position is open.

- This is actually quite normal tradition for Astartes.

The Storm Eaters believe heavily in the use of heavy support, thus leading to Devastator 1 and 2 squads as the main unit of choice.

- Why?

They also keep a heavily mechanized force for each company due to being able to make some of their vehicles due to their experience as blacksmiths.

- You need Techmarine to manufacture a vehicle.

They also favor weapons that show a affinity to storm or forges like the Storm Bolter, Thunder Hammer, Lightning Claws, Flamers, and Plasma Guns.

- Just a stupid question: What weapons they don't use?

10th Company

Captain

Chaplain

Apothecary

Standard Bearer

Champion

x10 Scout Squads

x11 Rhinos

- In codex Chapter the 10th company doesn't have a Standard nor heraldic colours.

- Where do you get a Champion?

- Why Rhinos?

Such detailed organisation table is mostly unnecessary.

Edit:

Hey Bolter and Chainsword. As my first forum, I wanted to present my first forum, a fictional chapter by the name of the Storm Eaters.

obviously fictional, otherwise life would be a million times cooler if astartes were real

T - They are... ALIVE!!

Thanks for the feedback. I am not as versed in Space Marine lore as I should be, so I constantly forget to double check. Working on editing right now. As for the Rhinos, I have always been a bigger fan of the ability to transport a full squad, as opposed to bringing in more firepower. But I have always been a infantry oriented person, so that is just me.

Here is a modified Storm Eaters armor, I'll have to pick which style later.

I think this looks more serious than the original, (with the exception of the eyes) but now he looks like a Michigan Wolverine player.

Tushan the new armor scheme I think looks way better. If you go with that it will be alot of fun. I love half schemes. and half scemes always look super slick on vehicles like rhinos and land raiders. good choice! i reccomend painting them with green or red eyes rather then yellow so they dont blend into the armor and either a white or silver eagle on chest, depending on what color of yellow you use, the gold wings might blend in as well

Finished with the new fluff. I also decided to backtrack and include some more information about their homeworld and the fortress monastery.

The Storm Eaters Homeworld

Tartarus

Tartarus is classified as a feral world, and its inhabitants have just discovered stone tools. Its climate and seasons are similar to Terras, with the exception of for 3 of the 12 months the entire world is engulfed in blackness due to all three moons covering the sun at once. Its inhabitants are organized into tribes, each with their own culture and ritualistic warpaint. The primary predator are he Chimeras, huge lion-esque creatures with razor sharp tusks and numerous spikes sicking out of its back. Tartarus has only one city, which is inhabited by various Imperium members, be it Inquisitors, Scientists, Imperial Guard regiments, so on and so forth.

The Fortress of Storms

The Fortress of Storms is located in teh southern hemisphere and is made up of the following sections.

Company Chapel

Chapter Chapel- If multiple companies are being commited to battle they will meet here for a pre-battle service.

Penitorium

Private Chambers

Communal Dormitories

Guest Chambers

Foundries

Shuttle Silos

Teleportorium

Launcher Pads

Armoury

Apothecarion

Reclusiam

Refectory

Oratorium

Libarium

Cells

Hydro-Culture

Terrarium

Scipotory

Solotarium

Dungeon

Fortress Defences- Ranging from Anti-aircraft lasers to automatic turrets, these surround the Fortress monastaries

Catacombs

Beliefs

The Storm Eaters are are bers of the Ecclesiarchy and will lash out at anyone with signs of heresy. However they also belive that the Primarchs are minor gods and worship them as such. They are fanatical in thier destruction of Chaos, and made the Vengeance Chaplains as such. They also believe that weapon forgeing is one of their most important duties, and are required to maintain and carry their Honor Sword, a weapon that serves as a dog tag and msut be carried at all times, usually on the back. The sword is engraved with enemies killed, the marines name, campaigns served, and such.

Sorry I could'nt bring in the stuff I said I was going to, but I am almost finished.

Hey Bolter and Chainsword. As my first forum, I wanted to present my first forum, a fictional chapter by the name of the Storm Eaters.

Hey there, welcome and I hope you enjoy your stay. Sometimes you really won't but stick it out anyway. :(

Also this is the Liber. The regulars here (like myself) refer to the subforum as the Liber and ourselves as Liberites. Strange? Yes but you wouldn't be here if you were boring. ;)

Let me just open with this little opinion piece that I like to call Lists are not Fun.

LISTS ARE NOT FUN!

Lists break narrative flow and bog down the article as a whole. They are neither fun to read nor what the reader of your IA is actually there for, cut them for the love of god.

Tartarus

This is a bit immersion breaking. Tartarus is a well known term and it's use destroys the readers suspension of belief before you've even begun. Yes GW does it, but what GW does isn't always the best thing.

The Storm Eaters are are bers of the Ecclesiarchy and will lash out at anyone with signs of heresy.

They're what? Is that members? If so, it's impossible. After the Age of Apostasy when the mad Ecclesiarch Goge Vandire took control of the Imperium, the Ecclesiarchy was banned from having men under arms in it's service. That's why they have the Adeptus Sororitas, which was then itself broken up to divide the power of the group.

You can believe in the same things as the Ecclesiarchy preaches, that's fine if very unusual for a Space Marine chapter and warrants some explanation, you just can't be a part of the Ecclesiarchy itself.

They are fanatical in thier destruction of Chaos, and made the Vengeance Chaplains as such.

The what? What are Vengeance Chaplains? Also, all loyalists of any stripe are pretty fanatical in their destruction of chaos, what makes your marines different?

They also believe that weapon forgeing is one of their most important duties, and are required to maintain and carry their Honor Sword, a weapon that serves as a dog tag and msut be carried at all times, usually on the back. The sword is engraved with enemies killed, the marines name, campaigns served, and such.

It's an interesting concept but more than a little counter-intuitive. A simple (personal) combat-blade that the marine always carries would be better than a whacking great sword. Though, what happens when you run out of space? Get another sword?

I have the amusing image of the Chapter master with dozens of swords affixed to his armour and being more of a danger to himself than any enemy, if he can even move.
