Brass Scorpion

Been wanting to build a Brass Scorpion to use as a center piece for my entire collection ever since I first seen one. Decided to take a break from finishing off my LPC to start assembling one. Managed to find the old GW guides for building them and decided to go with the one that actually has 8 legs.

Like most things I've built so far, I kinda thought it'd be bigger.

Messed up on leveling out the two end pieces, so just used some green stuff to gap fill it. I need to go and clean it up once everything sets.

Demolisher Canon and the two hell maw canons. I need to get more magnets to attach these. I like being able to remove my weapons when they get destroyed.

The Tail. Getting the second arm to connect was harder then I thought it'd be.

I didn't have the parts to build the canon described in the guide, and I thought the Scorpion canon in the codex looked underwhelming. So I just doubled the guns. Still working out how I'm going to connect it to the tail.

How he looks so far. The tail was sturdier then I thought but it probably won't hold well once I get the gun on it. Even if it does I'll still probably put a pin in it to help support it. Both of the front claws are probably going to need pins since one joint doesn't hold very well, and the other doesn't hold at all.

 

He stills needs some places cleaned up, and a few structural upgrades, but I think he's coming together pretty good. Don't know when I'll get around to painting it, since I still have my LPC to finish and several units that see regular play to paint. After I do get it painting I think I'm going to give him the Slaughterfiend treatment by wrapping a chain around him and have him ridden by a skull champion. Gives me another excuse to use a up a few more possessed bits. Just need to find chain that looks right for when I get around to the Slaughterfiend Blood pack.

Thanks for the comments. Haven't had much of a chance to work on this lately. Cleaned up a few mold lines, but not much else. Still trying to figure out how I want to go about pinning the front claws. Planning on taking some design ideas from Slaughterfiends. I really dig the imagery of a champion riding a daemon engine, so I put together this guy.

He's a little unbalance, but it won't matter once he's on the scorpion. Still working out how I'm going to do that since I kind of want to keep him around as a backup for Ilya. Need to look at what kind of chain will work best for this, then I'll find an arm that works well. Hoping to get this at least assembled and based coated in the next two weeks.
