superdupermatt
Hello, new to B+C in terms of "existing" but I have frequented on a regular basis and I have always found a lot of inspiring stuff on the WIP logs! Now I am not arrogant enough to presume I will now be inspiring, but I just wanna share my small collection of Blood Angels and receive constructive criticism on the way! I also would like to clarify that I am happy to never attempt a Golden Daemon model or even something to grace CMoN... But nonetheless I would like some pointers and tips if you'd be so kind! Ok onto the stuff I've done already. Brother Librarian Iaoth Osz http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab318/superdupermatt/IaothOszFront.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab318/superdupermatt/IaothOszBack.jpg Archangel who has power to thwart demons. Osz (OZ) being his birth name and Iaoth his awarded name given By Lord Mephiston after a great battle he fought when an immaterium breach occurred in warp travel. The Cruiser he was travelling in was attacked by those from the warp, killing many battle brothers and the complete compliment of scout trainees that were aboard. It was decide one must have fallen and given in to the foul temptation because none were ever found. The battle lasted 6 days until Osz was able to seal the rift. For his strength and endurance he was named after an ancient librarian of Blood Angel past who was of the librarian internal order of daemon hunters. Iaoth Osz has been assigned to a similar role now, and has shown great strength and hatred towards the beasts of chaos. Those amongst his company pass rumours that he can smell the faintest hint of taint with but the slightest sniff. Basically just an arm swap and a DC jump pack. I know, the face is rubbish, I intend to go back and make it better... honest! Brother Dallo
Nice. Certainly better than my painting skills. Just a few things: a few drops of stray blue paint need to be cleaned off the force weapon haft, and I felt the haft itself was lacking in colour. Maybe try a redish brown as you play Blood Angels. Just my £0.02 Dallo Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221090-you-are-my-angels-my-bloody-angels/#findComment-2640589 Share on other sites

Just my £0.02 Dallo Yes I did notice the stray blue on the haft, I did intentionally leave it black... but a reddish brown? HarasinCreed
Quite good the posing especially. A couple of things, you need to thin down your paints especially the faces and have you tryed layering the paint onto feathers instead of drybrushing it on? Finally you need to remove mold lines and the bits where you have pulled the model off the sprue. Keep it coming Ed Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221090-you-are-my-angels-my-bloody-angels/#findComment-2640641 Share on other sites

Finally you need to remove mold lines and the bits where you have pulled the model off the sprue. Keep it coming Ed Faces is something I struggle on, I must admit, I thin my paints down all the time, so I guess I just have to keep practising. Thank you though. Mold lines are the bane of my life (I guess it could be said for all hobbyists) and is something I am learning to pick up on the more and more I do :( Yeah I did try layering, I couldn't get it to work no matter what I tried, so dry brushing will suffice till I can muster the will to live again. I friggin love that Sanguinary Novitiate, excellent use of the Master of the Fleet model. :) He is easily one of my favourite models, he is inspired by ilikebmxbikes' log from Warseer. His is much, much prettier. Anyway, progress! http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab318/superdupermatt/101_0621.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab318/superdupermatt/101_0624.jpg I don't know what to put on the engraved 'X' marks on the helmet and hands... any ideas? I know, 30% completed isn't anything to shout about, but for me it is! I am a very slow painter... I am pleased with the variety in height that is showing already though! Woo. Just gotta make some more bases. I also got a tad bored painting tacticals so... http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab318/superdupermatt/101_0633.jpg Dunno what role he is gonna fill or what but he was just standing there judging me for not painting him. As punishment for his insubordination I shan't give him a head for a loooooooong time. I've also drawn up a quick 500 points list HQ Librarian -jump pack -shield of sanguinius -unleash rage ELITE Sanguinary Priest -jump pack -power sword TROOPS Assault Squad (5 man) -power fist -melta gun Assault Squad (5 man) -power fist -flamer Comes in around 480 points so not sure what to spend the extra 20 on... any suggestions? RedShoes
Maybe you could turn the unfinished guy with sword into an assault sergeant. Give him a Backpack and maybe replace his arm with a powerfist (only if it's within your ability of course as I would probably struggle with a metal figure like this). You should really write up an army list and collect to that. I never used to do that but now I do and it is really worth it as you can also test the list using counts as in the mean time and make little adjustments. superdupermatt
Progress has been slow, and sparse! Not only have I been distracted by the Grey Knights' release, but I dislocated my thumb and find it terribly sore to do anything requiring my hand! http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab318/superdupermatt/Blood%20Angels/101_0792.jpg Here is my colection of Blood Angel stuff! http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab318/superdupermatt/Blood%20Angels/101_0794.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221090-you-are-my-angels-my-bloody-angels/#findComment-2733255 Share on other sites

superdupermatt
Ok so this month I picked up a Sanguinary Guard box and a GKPA box, and thought "Hmm... they could easily be made into plastic Librarians - my kitbash prowess knows no bounds!" then I realised that it's probably already done.... And the fact that Cardiff GW is running a painting competition this month swiftly changed my mind back to doing normal Sanguinary Guard... So here is the pic of the one guy; http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab318/superdupermatt/Blood%20Angels/101_0879.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab318/superdupermatt/Blood%20Angels/101_0882.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab318/superdupermatt/Blood%20Angels/101_0884.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab318/superdupermatt/Blood%20Angels/101_0881.jpg I am very happy with him so far. As you can tell, I have pushed the boat out and even wrote LETTERS on the parchment! Crazy stuff indeed. I am also pleased with his face, which is normally something I struggle with... this time I took my time and I think it shows! I do need some ideas on painting the staff of the halberd, as I can't think of a decent colour, originally it was going to be necron abyss highlighted with mordian blue then washed with asurmen, but then I worry that introducing blue might bring too many colours. Also, does the daemonette head look ok??
