Shotbreak
"I, Shotbreak of the Liber Astartes, vow on the honour of my Chapter to paint and present at least ONE COMBAT SQUAD OF STERNGUARD VETERANS WITH AN ACCOMPANYING CAPTAIN OF MY ECLIPSE TEMPLARS on or before the 31st of March, 2011. I promise to provide at least two WIP updates, with pictures, in that time. I vow that if I should fail, I will provide the Librarium with a hopefully awesome article of my DIY chapter and wear the Signature of Shame until my penitence period is done." So this was my vow, fashionably posted first :) So I guess it's time to start my topic by posting pics of my Sternguard WIP. They pretty much just have the undercoat put on and I'll be starting on the basecoat tomorrow and post up some more after that stage. http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j389/Shotbreak/P1300003.jpg http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j389/Shotbreak/P1300002.jpg And to prove they're mine.... http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j389/Shotbreak/P1300001.jpg Haven't gotten started on my Chapter Master yet since I don't have the necessary parts (first conversion). Gonna be a Pedro Kantor Counts-as :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221175-lpc-fail-chapter-master-veterans-of-the-eclipse-templars/ Share on other sites
Shotbreak
UPDATE: Got some better pics to replace the others ones ;) So here's my first(and a half) update, took a little longer than expected ^_^ but here is the first Sternguard, almost complete, and ready for C&C ;) http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j389/Shotbreak/P2010003-1.jpg Another angle http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j389/Shotbreak/P2010002-1.jpg this is the only "good" side since the other side of the helmet came in looking like the Nurgle half of Two-Face :( http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j389/Shotbreak/P2010001.jpg Suggestions welcome if there's something that needs changing (The Combi-Melta's getting a red casing, haven't bothered to do it yet) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221175-lpc-fail-chapter-master-veterans-of-the-eclipse-templars/#findComment-2643923 Share on other sites
Leonidus
hey dude your lighting mean that we can't actually see the detail or the "true" colours of your marine. From what I can see though he's looking rather fly ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221175-lpc-fail-chapter-master-veterans-of-the-eclipse-templars/#findComment-2643929 Share on other sites

Wicced
nice models, but your paint looks a little thick to me. it gives some parts of the model a poriferous look (first marines helmet f.e.). i'd recommend to thin your paint before applying it to the models. Shotbreak
It's actually the undercoat that's causing the poriferous look, forgot to clean the models before I sprayed or it might be that I sprayed them lackluster but it's biting me in the :P: now, gonna be careful for my Chapter Master since I haven't started on him other than putting him together. FatMan
Nice job, I really enjoy the color scheme, but the Orange is a litte blotchie and your primer seems to chalk, a lot. The metal is the one that needs the most work, try hitting it with Badab or Devlin, or even paint it with Boltgun metal instead of chainmail (which this looks like but correct me if I'm wrong). Other than that, very nicely done and interesting paint scheme! Scriptor Tharxes
Your painting Style is nice and the color scheme too but try to use less primer or shake it a bit more before start spraying. And thin down your paints, then you'll really get very nice marines there. Nice Orange on black primer is harder job then thin Orange and black paint on white primer. You should try this way too. Olis
Loving the chapter master, dude, however he doesn't seem very... ornate. Maybe it's just me... :cuss Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221175-lpc-fail-chapter-master-veterans-of-the-eclipse-templars/#findComment-2732121 Share on other sites
Shotbreak
@FatMan: My primer skills are a bit mediocre atm but I'm hoping I'll get over that obstacle with my next project. the metal parts are a bit bright but it isn't just chainmail, pretty much the boltgun, chainmail, mithril routine, but I will use some badab to fix it up a notch, maybe hold off on the mithril silver next time. @Scriptor Tharxes: I will try out the white primer idea, it'll probably make the orange more "uniform" and won't let the black seem likes it's trying to hide underneath in a fail kind of way :P @Olisredan: It's not just you, I noticed that after I got started on him. I got some bitz lying around from a commander kit I got and hopefully there's something in there I haven't noticed that will really amp him up. Thanks for the tips and comments guys :cuss Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221175-lpc-fail-chapter-master-veterans-of-the-eclipse-templars/#findComment-2732994 Share on other sites
