Arjac-priest combo

You don't need a priest if you put him with a GH pack with a standard. Re-rolls half his misses and all his failed wounds. All his failed armor saves, half his invul saves, his difficult terrain, and his str vs. tanks.

That's true, but it's only for 1 phase..

As for the question, since you don't want to use a LR, put him with GH in a drop pod. Or you could try a full squad of Blood Claws if they are going to footslog.

Wouldn't the RP need to be in a different squad? I thought all firing from a single squad was considered simultaneous (that's why you can't destroy a vehicle with your meltagun then shoot the guys that come out with the bolters)? In order for the I1 to "count" when the Jaws hits I think the RP needs to be in a different squad.

That is correct.

So drop them in a drop pod, the RP disembarks separately, and then Arjac whacks the thing and the RP casts Jaws.

Problem with the whole thing is that it is expensive and it's pretty limited in use. If you're doing something like that, then I would suggest the Logan-bomb with Multi-Melta Longfangs, Logan and Arjak in a Drop Pod. That way if there is a juicy Jaws target, then the RP can join them and the MM Long Fangs can still split their fire into a different target.

Arjac joined to a Long Fang pack is considered part of the squad. Even if the squad split-fires, if the Rune Priest is joined to said Long Fangs pack, his Jaws and Arjac's hammer-throw happen simultaneously, leading to the same issue. The Rune Priest would have to be separated in order to Jaws whatever Arjac hits.

You also do realize that this squad would cost at a bare minimum 663 points for Logan, Rune Priest, Arjac, 3 Long Fangs with 2 Multi-Meltas, and a Drop Pod?

I could think of far better ways to spend that amount of points.

Yeah, that was mentioned in my first sentence

Oh I certainly agree.

But if you're doing the Logan Bomb already, adding a Rune Priest can sweeten the deal. Arjac and a RP will be a minimum of 288 points, so its a pretty massive expenditure for a one trick pony. Might as well double that up and make it a real threat.
