ewhile
Back to the original name for the chapter plus some modifications. Vi et virtute! –By Strength and Valor! War cry of the Knights of Antioch Knights of Antioch Origin: Founded at the end of the 23rd Founding, the Knights of Antioch traveled to the planet Antioch, a feudal world in the very south-east of Segmentum Tempestus. Unfortunately, several millennia latter, the chapter lost their home world. In late M40, Chapter Master Rikard, the Talon de Falcon, received a request for aid from the nearby of Darcar, an Ork warlord named Zagzull was leading a Waaagh in the system. . Almost the entire chapter was deployed to combat the threat of the Waaagh, leaving elements of the 8th and 10th companies. Almost at the completion of the operation, the chapter home world was invaded by chaos. By the time the chapter was able to quit the crusade and return to their home world, the taint of chaos had perverted a majority of the planet too much. At first, the chapter tried to retake the planet. The 4th and 6th companies were deployed to assess the situation, both were decimated. After learning of the fate of the planet, Rikard ordered that the chapter to retrieve as many of their artifacts from their monastery as possible. As 1st company arrived at the monastery, they were astounded to see the survivors of both 8th and 10th company defending an uncorrupted monastery from the army of chaos. With the added firepower of the 1st the Knights were able to drive of the enemy, if for a short while. Once all of the untainted artifacts and the pure geneseed were retrieved from the Monastery, Rikard ordered the withdrawal of the knights from the planet and imitated Exterminatus. As the planet was destroyed, Rikard watched the destruction of the planet, his home world, with tears of rage and frustration flowing from his eyes. After the planet was destroyed, Rikard ordered the chapter be assembled. At the assembly, Rikard was quoted as saying As light follows darkness, Victory shall come after this defeat. We must first exorcise the tears of the chapter before we move on." Organization: The Knights of Antioch loosely follow the Codex Astartes on the roles of its marines. However, in their centuries of service, the chapter's organization has evolved, or degraded depending on Imperial institution you are talking to. The servants of the administratum have received reports on the Knights organization. The Chapter contains 10 fighting companies, there are no veteran or reserve companies. Each company has several squads of veterans attached to it. Each company is in charge of the recruitment of the chapter as well as the of the company. The fighting companies are totally independent from each other and answer only to Chapter master and his council. Each fighting company contains both the veterans and the initiates of the chapters. The veterans are responsible for the protection of the captain. The current estimates of the size of each company is around 160-200 marines. The current organization is loosely based upon The Black Templars, with whom they have good relations. The Knights and Templars have served together in many crusades throughout the Imperium. The Chapter master is advised by Council of 5; the Masters of the Forge, Recruits, Hospitaller, Reclusium, and Librarius. The Knights know the relationship between battlefield tactics and the importance of having the gear of the marines in perfect order and the ability of obtaining the material for war. Typical Battle Company Captain & Command squad Chaplain Librarian 2-3 veteran squads (Household) 6 Tactical Squads 2 Devastator Squads 2 Assault Squads 2 Scout Squads First company is composed entirely of the Chapter Master’s Honor Guard. Combat Doctrine: The combat doctrine of the Knights of Antioch varies from company to company. The first company, the Chapter master’s own, is known for their lightning assaults, while Captain Tiberius Whyte's 5th company is known for their armored assaults. Beliefs As scouts join the ranks of the battle brother each one takes an oath the oath is as follow. A Knight is sworn to valor, His blade defends the weak, His righteous wrath undoes the evil. The chapter uses a teardrop to signify the penance crusade that they have taken up since the fall of their home world. Geneseed: All records of the Chapter’s geneseed have been lost to the Imperium. Many speculate that they were drawn from the geneseed of Dorn, due to their stubborn and will resolve when defending their objectives. A minority whisper that their geneseed was drawn from the fallen’s geneseed. Battle Cry Vi et virtute! –By Strength and Valor! Commanding officer (force commander, chaplain, etc.) cries out Vi et virtute! And the battle brothers respond By Strength and Valor. Another common battle cry is "For the Lost!" in remembrance of the battle-brothers lost on Antioch. Generating Random Name...
Founded at the end of the 23rd Founding, the Knights of Antioch traveled to the planet Antioch I'm not sure what is here but something doesn't sit right with the "Knights of Antioch travelled to the planet Antioch", i think something like "Founded in the 23rd founding, The Knights of Antioch are named after their Homeworld, which was sadly lost to the forces of Chaos several millenia later" the chapter home world was invaded by chaos. should be Chapter's home world After learning of the fate of the planet, Rikard ordered that the chapter to retrieve as many of their artifacts from their monastery as possible. Where was Rikard if he only heard about the fate of the planet after the death of the 4th and 6th companies? Rikard ordered the withdrawal of the knights from the planet and imitated Exterminatus. I think you mean "Initiated" As the planet was destroyed, Rikard watched the destruction of the planet, his home world, with tears of rage and frustration flowing from his eyes. Something about the double use of planet here, maybe try "As the it was destroyed, Rikard watched the destruction of the planet, his home world" As light follows darkness, Victory shall come after this defeat. We must first exorcise the tears of the chapter before we move on." Missed out the first quotation marks here Each company is in charge of the recruitment of the chapter as well as the of the company. Not quite sure what you mean here. The fighting companies are totally independent from each other and answer only to Chapter master and his council. Each fighting company contains both the veterans and the initiates of the chapters. If the companies are totally independant of each other then who trains the new reruits, if it is a specific person in each company, then do they a special title? The Knights know the relationship between battlefield tactics and the importance of having the gear of the marines in perfect order and the ability of obtaining the material for war. Isn't this what all space marines do? First company is composed entirely of the Chapter Master’s Honor Guard. Why does you chapter master have over 150 honour guard? Maybe have just the veterans of the first as the honour guard, or have the Chapter master lead the 1st company. Combat Doctrine:The combat doctrine of the Knights of Antioch varies from company to company. The first company, the Chapter master’s own, is known for their lightning assaults, while Captain Tiberius Whyte's 5th company is known for their armored assaults. Maybe each of the companies roles could be elaborated on in the organisation section. As scouts join the ranks of the battle brother each one takes an oath the oath is as follow. A Knight is sworn to valor, His blade defends the weak, His righteous wrath undoes the evil. Is this the end of the oath? It may be a good idea to quote it. A minority whisper that their geneseed was drawn from the fallen’s geneseed. Why is this speculated? There are plenty other genestocks to choose from. I like where this is coming from, and i think the colour scheme is pretty sweet, so keep going and good luck :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221285-knights-of-antioch-take-3/#findComment-2642899 Share on other sites
ewhile
Thanks for checking my writing. Having trouble with the BB code so here goes: In order to replace the losses of the companies in battle, each comapny recruits neophytes so that each company is filled with marines utterly loyal to the Chapter, the chapter master, and his commander. (trying to prevent something like Iagon in the tome of fire trilogy from happening.) The new recruits are first placed under the tutelage of the company's chaplain, who teaches the catechisms of the chapter, and librarian, where they learn what their roles in the future of the chapter. Once both the chaplain and the librarian are pleased with the education (?) of the recruit, he is then placed under the tutelage of a veteran space marine, sergeant, or a scout sergeant. The marines are master of repairing their equipment in the field, often coming up with ingenious ways to repair broken weapons in the middle of firefights, and making their own equipment in the chapter's forges. I should have said that 1st company is only 30 honor guards and 70 veterans of the chapter, the veterans are promoted from each company. Forgot to add that that sometimes individual and entire squads have been rumored to become frenzied berserkers in the heat of battle and only pulled victory from defeat after their outbursts Any other suggestions? (trying to prevent something like Iagon in the tome of fire trilogy from happening.) looking good,I haven't read the Tome of Fire trilogy, what happens? The new recruits are first placed under the tutelage of the company's chaplain, who teaches the catechisms of the chapter, and librarian, where they learn what their roles in the future of the chapter. Once both the chaplain and the librarian are pleased with the education (?) of the recruit, he is then placed under the tutelage of a veteran space marine, sergeant, or a scout sergeant. Sounds good, "Education" could be replaced with "Tutoring", and one of the Tutelage could be replaced with "guidance" The marines are master of repairing their equipment in the field, often coming up with ingenious ways to repair broken weapons in the middle of firefights, and making their own equipment in the chapter's forges. This could imply that reqruits are also given instruction by the company's Tech marine? I should have said that 1st company is only 30 honor guards and 70 veterans of the chapter, the veterans are promoted from each company. Sounds more "realistic" but it also sounds a bit like a veteran company, doesn't it? Forgot to add that that sometimes individual and entire squads have been rumored to become frenzied berserkers in the heat of battle and only pulled victory from defeat after their outbursts Blood angels stylee? Any other suggestions? Not really, but i'm something will come to me :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221285-knights-of-antioch-take-3/#findComment-2643045 Share on other sites
ewhile
In the first book, there is a power play for a company captain between the one chosen by the chapter master and a disgruntled sergeant. The sergeant, Tsu'gan, almost gives up on the power play except his second, Iagon, convinces him to continue. At the end Tsu'gan is promoted to first company, while Iagon is left to take his place. In the second book Iagon, feeling betrayed, turns traitor and traps Tsu'gan for the enemies of the Salamanders. The books are by Nick Kyme. Maybe, the chapter doesn't experience the "black rage" like the blood angels and their successors. Its more like, hate to say it, like the brutes from halo, loose too many brothers and they go insane, but they end up regaining their consciousness after rampaging for a little bit. Generating Random Name...
They sound like interesting books, might have to get one sometime. I didn't mean "Black Rage" i just meant that the Blood Angels are known for their CQC ferocity anyway, It's a good Idea though. Hopefully they will not be like the brutes in other respects, e.g. be extremely easy to kill! and very hairy... :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221285-knights-of-antioch-take-3/#findComment-2643197 Share on other sites
