Guest Mordray
I have more then this but it's spread out over a number of note books. Probably a lot of unfinished sentences... I ran out of time... January has been an active month for me... Time of Shadows – IA Void Reavers Overview: "The Void Reavers are a savage brutal chapter devoted to destroying the Imperial Cult and damning humanity to the xeno." - unknown preacher... "Damned Void Reavers... Origins: * 4th founding... * No training cadre... not going to change * - spent their training years backing up an Imperial Guard crusade... * - chapter gains a respect for the Imperial Guard who they see as near equals... * Clerical error prevents access to Dreadnought Sarcophagi and Terminator Armor. not going to change * - began to develop an alternative to the absent Terminator Armor by continuing the mk3 armour program... * Early conflicts with the Imperial Navy left the chapter distrustful and favoring over built fleets that push the boundaries of the separation of powers. * Spends well over a thousand years subject to fine tuning... Homeworld: * World integrated into the crusade era Imperium by the Warhounds legion. Lost shortly after words due to disruption of 'warp lanes'... * retains the Imperial Truth. * nearly destroyed by those sent to reintegrate them... attacked members of the imperial cult after they foolishly declared the Emperor of man a god... * Void Reavers took the world as theirs and slaughtered the Imperial Cultists that attempted to attack the planet anyways... several cultist ships escaped and serve as the basis for an anti-astartes faction of the Imperial cult... * Psykers are regulated and controlled by the descendents and inductee's of those sent for the initial harvest... executions are less common now and the stasis vaults instead serve to hold those psykers too dangerous or weak willed (often indistinguishable) to be trained by the Occulus Sub-Sector: * Only two stable and forty intermittent warp lanes into and out of the sub-sector. * Chapter is granted fiefdom after the astranomicon begins to fail. * Occulus is in a state of civil war with Imperial Cult forces on one side, while the Void Reavers and their allies on the other. * History: * Battles with orks (common), Eldar (rare), Dark Eldar (very rare), 'traitor' guardsmen (very common) * 6th battalion battles the Tau... side bar? * * Gene-seed: “Ready yourself child for to take this next step is to turn away from all you have known. Succeed or fail you may never go back.” - Gene-Smith Gethic to Jahkob Drakiel just prior to his accepting of the serum and beginning his journey to become an astartes in flesh as well as spirit. [box] Analysis of Void Reaver gene-seed initially shows markers noted within that of the Khan's. However, additional analysis shows markers unique to the Void Reavers suggesting mutation. Further analysis of these markers suggests they are receivers for an unknown compound. All attempts to produce a viable test subject, for full analysis of gene-seed stability, have meet with gross under-performance compared to base line tests done at founding. Suggesting a weakening of the gene-seed. However even cursory analysis of Void Reaver combat logs show that this is not the case. Suspect markers are the key. Unknown compound(s) likely play a role in the activation of the gene-seed. I will require better samples (A living Void Reaver would suffice) if I am to investigate this fully. I will need a living Void Reaver if I am to do a proper dissection. The Dragon foresee all and knows all, may we one day be so blessed. [/box] The Void Reavers in their efforts to minimize the loss of their gene-seed make use of two elements. The first is rather simple they recruit not simply to replace losses with the best and brightest but to enhance the genetic strength of their recruiting population. This population is a clan created by the chapter from not only their serfs but also from those they encounter on other worlds who basic testing prove viable. In this way the chapter can recruit from those who are too old for implantation but not so old as to be unable to add their genetic strength and diversity to the mix. To ensure both gene-seed compatibility as well as the physical and psychological traits sought by the chapter breeding within the clan is strictly regulated and controlled. The second effort they made to optimize the efficiency of creating replacements is a process refereed to as the serum. By which a child's body is made fully compatible with the gene-seed. This process, however, does take the lives of many who undergo it, but the pay out is that those who survive are fully compatible with the chapter's gene-seed. It is unknown if this process can be reworked to aid other chapters or not... the first step would be to approach a chapter and that could be dangerous. There is a flaw though... the chapter's gene-seed has become linked to the serum and can not produce a fully realized astartes without the optimized physiology of those who have survived the serum. This can be a problem as the serum requires a full year to alter the child's body and this must be done before puberty. Eight terran years has been shone to be optimal age. Another year of physical training and conditioning is generally advised so as to ensure the child is in optimal physical health prior to implantation, beginning at ten years old. Following their physical augmentation and basic training the fresh meat is dropped on a war world to engage in no less then seven years of unending war, with barely satisfactory equipment. Only after this minimum period is over and they have satisfied the overseers will they be permitted to join their brothers in battle on distant worlds with proper equipment. Most veterans will return to the war world from time to time to remind themselves of where they started and to offer hope to those trapped upon the world still. Combat Doctrine: * Still use most of the codex, but have modified much of it where necessary to account for their abnormal formations and most notably to account for the presence of the guides. * Extensive use of combat servitors (mass produced and uniform in design... not as stupid... perhaps not even servitors.). Mostly used in defensive positions overseen by Siege-smiths or watching over Gene-smiths. * * Organization: * Don't follow codex organization. * Apothecaries and Tech-Marines merged into the Smiths. Roles diversified and expanded. Gene-smiths and Flesh-smiths are the most common of the apothecaries line while Siege-smiths and Tech-smiths are the most common of the tech-marine line. * * Gene-Seed: * Gene-Seed can no longer produce a fully realized astartes without subject first undergoing Serum purification and augmentation. * The Serum process while needed can and does kill recruits. Those who survive are fully compatible with Void Reaver gene-seed. Process must be used on those at eight Terran years. A year of physical training follows and then at ten implantation and specialized training begins. * Chapter uses a clan composed of those genetically compatible with Void Reaver gene-seed. Those of breeding age and younger who's genetic potential is deemed worthy are recruited into this clan and their children used to produce a new generation of astartes. * Motto/Battle Cry: “In his name.” “We are the darkness.” Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221289-ia-void-reavers/ Share on other sites
