Have you considered the obvious corelation (to me anyway)? Go with something Feline. Smiledon Chapter or whatever. In Wargear there could be a Sabertooth Neclace intead of a Wolf tooth one. Fast attack units could be Cheetah-esque, Priests could be Tiger themed based on sub-species like Sumatran or Bengal or Siberian (or other names of regions on their 40K homeworld). Scouts could be Ocelots or Stalkers named after rare species or basic traits.

Model conversion would be relatively simple as there are Empire Lion Charriots and those lions have been converted into Fenresian Wolves by some. Reaper and other lines have a variety of feline models and some even have sabertooth riders like Hordes.

Try not to over-think it, unless you want to. Simple ideas tend to work out best in the end, be they for model availability or whatever.

That is his care bear stare.

That horrible, terrible thousand-mile stare into oblivion that twists all our arms collectively but... If sweetness can win... and it can... then I'll still be here tomorrow... to high five you yeshterday, my friend.... Peace.

Sorry. I was caught in his stare...

Hello,

Arjac Rockfist was the member of the Bear Claw tribe, so noone can say the Space Wolves as Bears idea has no official fluff behind!

And You`ve spent Your time&money on the models, paints, brushes etc. and I beleive You will spend more, so just go the way You want!

If I wanted pink terminators with blue flowers (Flower Power Legion) noone can stop me! Even the GW stands behind you!

SW are the only founding chapter as well as codex who have no succesors!

The Salamanders list "none known" for successor chapters. They are the only other 1st founding that "possibly" doesn't have successors.

In the 4th ed marine codex the black dragons (i think) were descendent's, but this a long time since I read it and its dead.

Late in the 40th millennium, the Inquisition took away their right to bear arms (). The ban was uplifted after The Great Bear "went 'grizzly' on their arses".

I'm going to stop now before I lose my sanity.
