I am Legion
Ok so I messed around with the settings a bit more, and the pics seemed to come ut alot better this time. There isn`t exactly enough light but the gradient is much better then it was previously. So here are the new pics. I took away the old pics, but they are in my album if you want to see them. DIKU
Im a definite fan of the mixed jump pack style. Haven't seen that yet either. It looks nice, and can be a pretty fluffy interpretation too. If Blood Angels are more glamorous with their armor designs, I can imagine battle brothers customizing their armor in such a way. Great poses too, especially the one on the far left. To me that part is just as important as the painting stage. And to add a small critique, it might be worth darkening the shadows in the crevices of the armor. I know you said the camera is hiding the different tones, but I think I have an idea based on the feet of the single flamer marine. I actually think the camera flash on the red adds some contrast that models are missing. This will also probably add to the way the models look on the table top, when you dont have a close up look at them. Kudos brah Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221330-first-7-ras/#findComment-2643746 Share on other sites
Quixus
Awesome models and paintjobs. For me it's just a bit too much bling for a RAS. How will you differentiate them from your VAS, JP HG and SG? Someone who insists on WYSIWYG may have problems with your Sergeant, as he is using an Angelus Boltgun instead of a bolt pistol. Valkyrion
Someone who insists on WYSIWYG may have problems with your Sergeant, as he is using an Angelus Boltgun instead of a bolt pistol. Only a pain. It's a one handed bolt weapon after all. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221330-first-7-ras/#findComment-2643814 Share on other sites
Quixus
What I forgot was, you would make your models look even better if you drilled the barrels or at least put black dots where the opening should be. Blindhamster
they look awesome! your red is so smooth and neat its enviable. I'm not a fan of the winged jump packs on them (i'm not a fan of the winged jump packs. the air intake would cause severe issues being behind the head and the wings would get in the way) But they do look awesome. Lovely posing and paint jobs. Kudos Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221330-first-7-ras/#findComment-2643982 Share on other sites
Ebsolom
Very nice indeed  ! As for the camera settings, red is notoriously difficult to photograph especially if using any sort of flash. I would suggest waiting for a nice bright day, take them outside and photograph them against a white backdrop. Hope this helps. I am Legion
Thanks alot for all the great comments. I don't think I did a stellar job on these guys, but I always had a hard time painting reds and yellows. I'm going to fiddle with the white balance tonight and see if the depth of the reds will pop out more. The reds are deep when i look at them in real life. Yes I will drill out the pistols in time. I just wanted to play with my camera first. And if anyone remembers the salamanders I painted last year, you'll know that I like making even the regular TAC marine look fancy. This is actually the only squad that'll have the mixed wings and normal JPs. The rest of the army will have magnetized JPs so I can interchange them for transport purposes. I just wanted to mess around with all the fancy new parts this time. Angelus Mortifer
Very nice indeed mate, and the first attempt I've seen using the Winged packs in Red that I really like. Given me some ideas now for a future project. cowboy3569
I am legion, Firstly - WOW great minis, love the individualistic look and the quality of the paint scheme, fantastic. Secondly - A quick Question. How have you got those small photos onto your post? I must be missing something as when i post photos they are huge. Keep up the good work, I am looking forwards to seeing your future work. I am Legion
actually windows' 7 image viewer comes with a basic version of photoshop. So I was able to crop the images and reduce them to like 35% of their original size. punkfish
Now that is one awesome squad!! The white on the JP wings looks really nicely done and although you've had problems with the photos - the yellows and reds still look striking. One quick query though and other people may be able to answer this, what are the models with the JP wings like to transport? Brother Nathan
awsome... but drill those barrels! failing that at least paint them to look hollow(aka a black circle...) I am Legion
Thanks again people. I am working on another guy which should have a great pose (in my mind) but it may take some time to get around to it due to work. Transporting then is actually really easy. I amit I use the army transport with the customizable foam (the only way to seriously carry such random models). The only one that sticks out 3 mm's is the guy with the wings with the sword across his face in the "bringing down the heavens manuever" And I know, I know I will get to those barrels....
