I have recently decide to give Vulkan marines a try. I don't have a Vulkan model though, so I decided that I would try my hand at building one from the ground up. Check out my blog post on how I made him. Thanks for your input!

That looks mighty sweet!

Two things though: I'd trim the mould lines! (its easy to forget those in the excitement of conversion!)

Whats the green stuff thing on his head? it looks a bit stuck on and maybe need to continue all the way down to the back of his helmet.

Im curious as to what size brass(?) pole you used, it looks perfect!

That cape looks damn good but ...

Two things though:

Spear is too plain (alot of people do this, it's annoying. It's A primarchs weapon.) I would suggest using the actual spear from the model or using greening it up some to make it have some detail.

I see that you are trying to mimic the powerfist flamethrower from the picture in the codex (i like the picture over the actual model myself =D) but the fist you are using is too big. I would suggest a lightning claw more actually. the connections for the lightning claw blades are perfect feeders for a flame thrower and all ya gotta do is add maybe 3 small barrels to where the blades are/were (not a flamer head. just some small tubes or if you want you can cut the barrels off some bolters). Just make sure it's from an infantryman sized piece and not a terminator's. terminator claws/fists are a little too big for a standard infantryman sized model like the one you have built.

  • 2 weeks later...

After receiving some thoughts and ideas, I have added a few bits and bobs to Vulkan. Here is the newer and improved-er Vulkan. You can see what changes I have made on my blog: Gone to Ground.

Tell me what you think. Thanks!

I haven't seen the picture you're using for reference, but I think that dude is brilliant. I wouldn't have thought of the earlier criticisms, but I think they're valid. The changes you made make the model look much more interesting. The only thing I am unsure of when I look at it is the left shoulder pad. Do you have a better picture of it?

Yeah. The left shoulder pad is basically made of greenstuff over a terminator arm. I put the terminator cod piece over it to kind of make it look like a shield or some such.

Here is the pic that I am going off of.

Thanks for the comment.
