Lysimachus
Hello all, Something a bit different today! I was feeling a little bored of painting the grey of my Iron Gods and felt like I needed a brief break from it. Happily, my brother had some spare bits that he didn’t want and so I had a spare Space Marine. I decided that I’d try to challenge myself a bit and do a different (and harder) scheme, and also to try doing some new techniques such as weathering and chipping the armour. That being said, I had to choose a Chapter. I was tempted to do one of the big 4, but in the end I’m a DIY man at heart so I had a look through the Librarium. While there were several schemes I considered, the choice was actually fairly quick, Octavulg’s Ice Lords. He’s a mate, I absolutely love the Chapter fluff-wise, and I figured the white on the smaller armour plates would make for a good challenge. Here’s the scheme if you’ve not seen it: http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd11/simoncherylm/gallery_14654_3445_1218.jpg And some pics: Front http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd11/simoncherylm/SN852863.jpg Left Side http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd11/simoncherylm/SN852865.jpg The Chapter Badge was a little complicated, so I hope that Octavulg won’t mind that I simplified it slightly for this mini. Think it’s not come out too badly? tiny sam
Cool model, I like the fact that the baby blue don't look ridiculous (like the new space wolf) why are you using the dark angel iconography? (the dark green angel...)

Octavulg
That's awesome. :P Seriously. It's very nice work. And you couldn't have chosen a better subject! ;) I usually end up simplifying the symbol, too. I just paint the diamond and leave out the angel. Eventually, I'll use decals. My one comment is that it might look a little more ominous if the symbol had a black background instead of perky sky blue. :P Seriously. That's very awesome, and I'm very flattered. If I ever paint my Chaos army, I'll be adding some Iron God mercenaries to the mix. Of course, I probably would have anyway. :) In answer to the question of why he has a DA Green symbol - because the Ice Lords are a DA successor. If you look closely at the badge, you may notice it's blatantly ripped off from inspired by one of the DA Chapter Banners.
Captain Juan Juarez
Batman has mates? :P As always SCL I'm impressed, you're going further up the "I Hate You" list! :P
