Death Company Stormraven

I'm not gonna paint my SR black - even though it looks incredibly awesome. Why, one may wonder?

Well, my 'Ravens are not going to transport DC only - there shall be some other units besides them and I will not always be playing them.

And it doesn't make sense to me that a gunship which is not a dedicated transport is painted black with red crosses, although it could be used for re-deploying a Tac squad the next few minutes(turns, game-wise).

Still, they look great and who am I to judge how people paint their models?

Golden Stormraven? dammit, its tempting, very very tempting....... im making mine at the moment, should i paint it gold for dante? omigod! now im confused, i dont know if i should paint mine red or gold... :P

Im also tempted to do Mephistons personal Stormraven, for just him and his favourite dreadnought buddy! That would be nice, like an uber DC stormraven...

So, brothers, my question is, should my raven be painted black, red, or gold?

So we have death company, barely controllable madmen who are capable of ripping huge numbers of foes apart barely feeling any injures.

Then we have the Storm Raven a vehicle especially for delivering troops into the thick of the battle, where other landing craft would probably fear to tread.

Seems like the ideal choice for landing a squad of guys to rip the heart out of your enemies forces, particularly when you may otherwise have trouble getting them to the right place.

Stormraven aren't throwaway, but then neither are Death Company despite their issues, so it seems the match made in heaven.

I just read pg21 in our codex, where Moriar and 'a full complement of Death company' loads up in a Stormraven named 'Red Glory'.

If anyone should get a black SR it would be Moriar and his possy. But then again it is possible that the Red Glory is painted black, Techmarines have a sense of humour too you know.

I was thinking about having a DC dread and DC in one stormraven and making it a DC stormraven. But since I'm likelyrunning two, I'm going to split up the DC element (DC in one, DC dread in the other) even if it is a bit unfluffy for multiple reasons (tactical advantage, don't want to paint a big target on one of them, don't want rage to end up in the same area when dropped off, etc.). Even if I run one stormraven, I don't think they'll both be going in it.

Honestly it's kind of whatever you want my death company is white which I think is the coolest! :) A white storm raven with red x's would just be awesome! Because the storm raven is a transport in general, I'm not sure if I want to paint it red or white.

I wouldn't use your stormraven with allied guard nearby.

White with a red cross on it, they might think medics are inbound to help them. :)

guardman 1: Don't worry Frank, I see a medivac coming in. Hold on man.

guardman 2: Bless them astartes, saving a grunt like me. They are truely the Emperor's Angels

*Storm raven lands and death company pile out.*

death comapny marines: Kill Horus, For the Emperor, Kill them all

*muck killing of the enemy ensures*

guardman 1: Well they killed all the enemy, so they kind of saved you!

guardman 2: Shut up.

I can't see why they wouldn't. Warp travel, from all the fluff I've read, takes weeks or even months. With all that free time traveling to the battle zone I'm sure the chapter serfs could make time to give it a respray if they knew there where Death Company on board.

In the middle of the Warp????? I don't think so!!!

how so., gellar feilds et all, many marines go into stasis but not all. so why not paint whilst in the warp?

also this thread put me in mind of band of brothers when they returned to the front line and one guy discovered someone had taken a dump in his fox hole... id imagine its like that in a raven after the dc have been in it, although probably more the dc made the piolet crap him self again...

Built one red one so far, have another to build tomorrow, definitely going to be black, with DC markings, then (sometimes) may run it empty or with just a dread, as with two Storm ravens on the battlefield, most opponents will tackle the black one first, then let the DC spill out of the red one.......could be an interesting game of bluff and double bluff!

Although a gold one would look cool, I perefer to send in the Honour Guard or SG with Dante and so an SR isn't rreally needed.

I have 3 SR's not build in the box, but 1 will be DC... why? Intimidation... people see the black and huge red X they know what's coming and they will avoid it, or throw everything at it.... and in the end that's exactly what I want the DC to do draw attention away from my finer instruments :tu:

Space Marines don't bluff anyone!!! And Blood Angels sure the heck don't!!! Paint it black and stuff it with black crazies!!!

I would like to refer all you honourable gentlemen to the following for what is arguably the best delivery system for our pychos in black;

:D

Blasphemy!

The Death Company are our soon-to-be dead brothers that we bring to the battlefield in their vehicle. Their transport is more a funeral procession than an all out charge.

No marine in a state like that should be forced to listen to that noise! Play the original ;-)

PS. Covering the Stones is blasphemy in every form ;-)

These are pretty much exactly my thoughts too.
