Hear da Lamentation
I was reading a post about someone bringing on some empty rhinos in a DoW scenario (in the beginning deployment.) You can bring "up to" 2 troops and an HQ" on at this stage. So how do the empty rhino's count? Talmon
I saw this as well.....have I been doing this wrong? Do the empty rhino's count? Does the GH pack in a rhino count as your two troop choices? nurglez
Yes it does, as it says "up to two units from your troop selection". A dedicated transport is a unit, even though it doesn't take up a force organisation. If you read the example under the diagram it makes more sense ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221516-dawn-of-war-question/#findComment-2646521 Share on other sites
Darkseer
Yes, it's an awesome strategy. I do it all the time. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221516-dawn-of-war-question/#findComment-2646603 Share on other sites
Hear da Lamentation
So a dedicated transport (which has to be dedicated to a troop type I would imagine) counts as a troop unit for purposes of DoW? So you could bring on 2 empty rhino's, with an HQ in one of them? nurglez
Yes, for the purpose of dawn of war (seems silly to me but I dont make the rules, I just use them). a tactic is to deploy 2 empty rhinos about 6 inches from your board edge, you bring on your troops, jump in the rhinos, then move them forwards, lets you move on a bit quicker heh. pucadubh
Wolf Brothers, have you ever struggled to get your Long Fangs in position for turn 2 effective shooting in Dawn of War. Don't give your GHs the Rhinos, give them to your LFs. Dawn of War (2 turns out of 6 in a 2 day tourney) Troops are on the board, 12" in, next to terrain (multi level ruins are cool) Turn 1, Rhinos with Long Fangs steam on 12", Long Fangs disembark onto ground level +1 (2" of any hatch :P ) and run into optimal shooting position, GHs get onto the bus and Turn 2 you are alive and kicking and Dawn of War didn't even phase you :D Wolf magic B) Any other scenario ... troops next to Rhinos in cover :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221516-dawn-of-war-question/#findComment-2647316 Share on other sites
