Forge World Extra Armour

A question on the Forge World extra armour kits, are they large, chunky affairs, or are they somewhat modular?

 

I ask because I've seen a Rhino reinforced armour kit on a tank, and it looks like the mid-section is separate from the front and rear sections. Are the Land Raider extra armour kits like this? Is it only the reinforced armour kits that are like this? Can I mix reinforced armour and spaced armour kits without cutting into the spaced armour kits?

I havent used the spaced armour but I do own the extra rhino armour.

It comes in six parts. 2 front pieces that wrap over the front of the tank, 2 side pieces that add new door frames and 2 rear pieces that wrap over the side/back of the tank.

I wouldnt think you could use any of it with spaced armour becauese it needs to wrap over the tank (like an L shape) and due to the nature of the spaced armour there would be a "space" between the tank and the outer skin.

 

Heres a shot of mine that Im doing for my vow. If you need close up of the Rhino let me know. You can see the resin armour is lighter

Actually, looking closely at photos of the spaced armour kit, it would appear that the middle pieces that go over the doors are common between spaced and reinforced armour.

 

Which means that one can probably mix the armour kits, but not use the same sections on the same model. Thanks UltraRich, the photos helped!

The extra armour kit only has one tricky part - getting plastic rhino doors to fit in the resin frames. They're VERY prone to shrinkage. You may find it simplest to cut them to fit, then fill the gaps. Covered in a tutorial on my blog.
