Nikolakhs
Hey all! So I recently received a Hell Talon in the mail from ebay, and I thought I'd chronicle it's construction and painting, from beginning to end, as I've looked across the interwebs and can't seem to find anything like this for a Hell Talon or a Hell Blade. First off, most of the large pieces were slightly warped. Everything had to be put into a hot water bath and bent back to a relatively straight angle, but I was unable to completely make everything match up. Sorry for the fuzzy pics. iPod camera is what I have to work with. Here's a shot of the dry assembly and what the finished product should look like. Most of the mold injections haven't been removed yet. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo1.jpg First step first. Magnetizing the bombs. In game I want them removable since the hell talon only gets 8 to use. Also, the havoc launcher and autocannon will be magnetized in case I want to switch out. I marked where the magnets would go based off of where the existing spots were already slotted for the bombs. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo1-1.jpg black dot should line up with black dot http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo2-1.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo3.jpg I sharpied the tops of the magnets and stacked them so that I wouldn't mix up polarities. I want all the bombs to fit on any slot. I used 2 sizes: 1/16 and 1/8". I wanted the bombs to have smaller magnets so that the resin wouldnt break when I added them. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photoJPG.jpg Magnets in undercarriage http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo4.jpg magnets in bomb http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo5.jpg Finished magnetization of bombs http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo3-1.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo2-2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo1-2.jpg ...More to come as pieces are glued down and the gaps are filled. -Nikolakhs Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221666-hell-talon-fighter-bomber/ Share on other sites
Nikolakhs
Hell talon as of 5 minutes ago is starting to shape up. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo4-1.jpg There were some huge gaps in the piping pieces, so I had to fill them in. Wasn't too hard of a job, it just took forever to smooth the putty. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo2-3.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo5-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo1-3.jpg Questions and C&C appreciated =) -Nikolakhs Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221666-hell-talon-fighter-bomber/#findComment-2648463 Share on other sites

Alphz
Looking good! If you dont mind me asking, what kind of putty are you using? and how did you drill out the recesses for your magnets? cheers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221666-hell-talon-fighter-bomber/#findComment-2649170 Share on other sites
Nikolakhs
So I've done some progress on this beastie. I decided I needed to finish building its' base before painting it, for lighting purposes and for setting purposes. But before that, Alphz asked for a tut on magnetizing, so I'll do that first: I mark exactly where the magnets are going. Can't afford to screw up on this model, although I put the havoc launcher incorrectly, forgetting about polarity. That was a stupid mistake that took 10 minutes to fix. I make the holes for the magnets just big enough so that I can push the magnets in and they'll stick without glue, so that with glue they'll never come out. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo2-4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo3-2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo4-2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo6.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo7.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo8.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo9.jpg Easy enough? Right? So I also started work on the base. There's going to be things on fire. And a bloodletter over a freshly killed guardsman. And a guardsman hiding on the top floor of that building holding on to the imperial primer for dear life, looking like he's crying. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo1-1-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo2-1-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo3-1-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo4-1-1.jpg and I've tried my hand at building some plasticard buildings, this one still needs thicker walls and battle damage. It'll probably be brick on the outside, with a metal door. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo5-1-1.jpg And finally, the pattern that I've decided on: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/Mr.Trowa/Hell%20Talon/photo5-2.jpg And that's an update! C & C appreciated! -Nikolakhs Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221666-hell-talon-fighter-bomber/#findComment-2667408 Share on other sites
