Eripio Etrius Ereptor
Wait...wait...yes...this is working...I GOTZ ME SOME FLUFF BOYZ! When the chapter was created, they were joined by a 'twin' chapter named the Crimson Nomads. The Tears, descendents of the Flesh Tearers, and the Nomads, direct descendents from the Ultramarines, butted heads right out of the gates, so to speak. They found homeworlds in the same sector (Or other suitable term for small bit of space reasonable enough to house two space marine chapters) and so always clashed on everything. The first chapter master, a good Sergeant named Letum, refused the codex outright and only read it because he was ordered to. He took influence from the Space Wolves and his own home chapter in a pair of ways: never be conventional and always be brutal. Right away he only organized seven Companies with regular numbers each. His force would be small and powerful, and all would be asked to do the work of ten just to survive. Just this was enough to set them apart from other chapters, and the codex 'as read' Crimson Nomads took this as a personal insult to Robute Guilliman and his ways. However, even that 'insult' couldn't last for centuries of combat so close together. The chapter masters frequently spoke conversationally while tearing through Orks, the main and most powerful threat in their sector, side by side. After so long of killing only orks, both chapters were straining at the leash to get at something worse. The Nomads begged higher powers to take on Chaos. They wanted to kill the traitors, plain and simple. The Bloody Tears wanted a stronger opponent. Through hundreds of years of combat, they'd never once lost more than two soldiers on a field of battle using their tactics. They begged for combat with Chaos as well as Necrons, Tyranids, Eldar, even Tau, as long as they could fight something different, something they had to adapt to. Both chapters got their wish in the form of an invasion into their territory by a renegade Chaos faction, known as the Blackened Saints. They made the mistake of landing on Riharia itself in a massive invasion force. Both chapters pulled together, the Nomads enraged that their 'evil twin' chapter had been attacked so obviously, the Tears looking for bloody vengeance. It took three days to anhailate the entire Chaos faction. But that wasn't enough. Letum, in the bloody throws of the Red Thirst, ordered the entire chapter's combat squads to war against every last Saint still breathing heretical breath. They followed them as the single battle barge fled, right into the jaws of the warp. For a month astropaths reported epic battles and glorious victories, but then they went dark. Refusing to believe that the Bloody Tears had been quelled so quickly after such a hard burn, the Crimson Nomads followed their brother chapter into the warp and soon vanished. The last astropath contact told of a massive, bloody battle being fought and held stable by the Tears. For one solid year, the Tears and Nomads did not exist in the Materium. Then, suddenly, six battle barges came from the warp just above Riharia. All bore symbols of either the Nomads or the Tears. The remaining Bloody Tears of Riharia, only a small detatchment of Librarians and most of the Scouts, many now full battle brothers, stood strong as dropships fell without communication. What they saw as the door opened terrified them. Down the ramp walked Techmarine Michal and his brother Kyro, the former holding a massive Shuriken Cannon while the other hefted two small (To Space Marines at least) blades: a force weapon and a Daemon weapon. Satisfied that the area was clear, Kyro went back into the ship and personally carried the mortally wounded body of Chapter Master Letum while Brother Michal watched over him. Letum asked Kyro to best him in single combat, so he'd have the death every Tear should. It took one strike. With his dying breath, Letum named Kyro chapter master, and ordered every Tear, whether he be in combat in the Warp with the main chapter or not, to follow Kyro's wisdom. As Kyro walked away, he let loose with his only recently discovered psionic potential and told the story that the Tears left behind had not been told. The main force had been stranded on a planet of some sort, filled with followers of Khorne, and pinned from above by a minion of Tzeentch who turned their ships into things of a horror so terrible some Scouts fell to their knees in disgust and sorrow for the men trapped inside. There they fought, for days on end, winning a losing battle until, finally, the Nomads fell from the sky like angels on wings of fire. Now they had a solid chance, and the Tears fought with renewed defiance. On more than one occasion, it was witnessed that a battle brother's clips would run dry, and he'd scoop up a fallen weapon of friend or foe, it mattered not, to turn only toward the enemy. It was Kyro who first did this, and his Sergeant saw a momentary heracy at work...then his own clip ran dry and he was forced to rip a lascannon from the fetid flesh of a fallen Obliterator and knew that his squadmate had done something amazing. He gave the order first, and his squad was among the first to come back hard with weapons not their own. The Nomads never did this, and always fought as Space Marines should fight. They clashed against the enemy with a force unrelenting. Soon, even the Red Thirst seemed to be shared through the bond between the soldiers of Sanguinius and Guilliman. It seemed as if the battle would be won and they could return home from the wretched place. However, Tzeentch saw corruption in the heart of the Nomads' master, Sirius, and called out to him with the one weakness he could use in the devout Marine: knowledge. Sirius begged to know of all chapters, to learn of their ways and understand why they defied the codex or held so strongly to it. He wished to know why Chaos was so terrible, deep down, and begged for the chance to study it. The sudden offer froze him for a moment, and he was saved only by Letum's interference. The other chapter master took to his back a chainaxe of a Khorne Berserker, and thus doomed himself. Kyro and his brother Michal were first to fly into a rage that lasted weeks. The entirety of the Tears fought for months, refusing to give an inch but taking feet with every bullet fired. Only occasionally would they find rest, as enemies seemed to be grown from the very ground. Yet still, no Tear backed down. Every battle, Kyro led the charge as Casius, the only surviving senior Apothecary, cared for Letum and gave his orders. Michal began working on anything he could get his hands on to improve it or understand it. He as well began to see the lure of Tzeentch. But every time he found himself entranced by a Chaos object, Kyro was always close by to rip him from his revenue and back into the battle. Finally, at the end of the year, Sirius fell to Tzeentch's call, and took his whole chapter with him. All of them, now converted either forcefully or through subtle ploys, turned and asked their brothers in the Tears to join them. Indeed, Sirius himself begged Letum to order his squads to stand down for the sake of the chapters' brotherhood. When no answer came, Kyro decapitated Sirius where he stood with his own weapon. Such war, even for Space Marines, is tough, and to be offered sudden respite is a deep temptation. Yet the defiance of the Tears is strong, and they cried out as one: 'Never falter! Never beg! Never give in! Never fall!' over and over again. This feeling, this emotion of sheer defiance, of an entire chapter refusing the will of possibly the most powerfully manipulative gods of Chaos, created a goddess of their own. As Kyro and Michal fought against the hordes of men they had once called brothers, they never let up, and between their will and the will of the chapter, Luca was born. She formed between Kyro and Michal as they stood surrounded and blessed them each with a weapon. To Kyro she gave Oblivion, a weapon with such luck to it that even a nick could kill a Space Marine. And to Michal she gave Metal Wind, a hurricane bolter mounted on his servo harness with four instead of three that could fire in any direction or all at once. Revived by the newborn Goddess of Defiance and, seemingly, Luck, the Tears proceeded to rip apart anything that stood in their way. They fought their way to the fallen stormravens and, with the help of a now almost godlike Techmarine Michal, got all of the ones not in smitherines airborn. The Chapter stole every ship that had once belonged to the forces coming from Riharia and wiped them all clean with the help of Luca. Kyro assumed the position of leader without a word, as every soul among the chapter refused to follow anyone else, even Michal. The sudden appearence of a chaos god had not shaken them: in the year of constant war, they had come to believe in anything that helped them...until it proved evil, at least. Kyro swore himself an ally of Luca, and with him the rest of the chapter followed. As she departed, Luca blessed Kyro again with the ability of the psyker, only having to expand his mind slightly to make it worthy of psychic power. Allowing himself not a moment of rest, Kyro ordered the chapter back to Riharia. This took longer than expected. For five more years, the chapter wandered through the warp, unable to find a stable way out. Finally, Kyro decided that he and Michal would set off alone to find a way out. It was a year before they returned. When they did, it was quickly apparent that Kyro was a different man. He stood stronger than before, if that was possible, and held such a grace that even Sanguinius would have been impressed. Some say he bested a greater daemon of Khorne alone. Others that he slaughtered an entire planet full of heretics. Hundreds asked his brother Michal, only to receive a shake of the head. Kyro now also wore a small blade identical to Oblivion, though this was Oathkeeper, a mastercrafted force weapon. With such precision as to scare his crew, Kyro maneuvered the remains of the chapter around the warp, and soon exited right above Riharia. The long wounded and only recently non-comatose Letum asked that he be taken to Riharia for his death. As his allies saw this, there was a mix of emotion. Some cried heratic and charged, only to be gunned down by Michal or sliced by Kyro. Others took their own lives, seeing it obvious that there was no winning against the two daemonic brothers. The majority of Librarians, however, saw into Kyro's willingly open mind and shared a feeling. They knew Kyro was still loyal to humanity and the Emperor, though his faith in the Imperium was shattered. Every Librarian pledged allegence to Kyro, even if they went renegade. Kyro did not wait for the Imperium to respond to their rediscovery, and, realizing that only a year had passed in normal time, Kyro set about turning one of the battle barges, the Semper Licens, into their flying fortress monestary. This work ended the day the remnents of the Crimson Nomads flew from the warp. Now they sported the mark of the Void Roamers, and at their command was the somehow revived Chapter Master Sirius. Before the first shots were fired, he met Kyro in the Immaterium, psyker to psyker. He begged Kyro to join them, to learn and fufil the wanderlust that every Tear felt. Kyro listened politely, and then shattered Sirius' mind. He'd learned how to make Mind War from his travels alone in the warp via an encounter with one too many Eldar Farseers. Sirius proceeded to order the death of the entire chapter. And failed miserably. The Tears left their world and turned every gun to the Void Roamers, tearing their formation apart. Then, when it seemed lost, Kyro reportedly closed his eyes to the slaughter and muttered words never to leave his mouth again: 'Retreat,' he'd said, 'fall back and vanish into the warp.' Working it out from here, but that's close to the chapter's full history. Got another one going for the Crimson Nomads/Void Roamers that will tie into this. How's it looking? ANGRYMARINE
Awesome. You should go into a bit more depth concerning Luca and what she represents, and her "personality" I guess. Eripio Etrius Ereptor
Indeed I should. I plan to reread my own post a few thousand times so I don't forget my own storyline, then I'll write up a more detailed version. I must be honest that I was apprehensive as to the potential validity of the post. There were a few parts I was fearful of include, such as the EXISTENCE of a chaos goddess not in canon, but thank you. My fears are set at ease. I will attempt to have the fully or partially revised version of the entire history as soon as I can, and I will upload profiles for Luca, Michal, Kyro, and maybe Sirius if I get a spare moment. Peace and thank you for the help. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221675-renegade-chapter-bloody-tears/page/2/#findComment-2679512 Share on other sites
Eripio Etrius Ereptor
Alrighty then, I've put thought into my characters and will now shoot some ideas out there. Luca, Defiant Goddess of Luck and Adaptation Created: (TBD. Working on which frickin founding my chapters will be in. Ideas welcom) Personallity type: Luca is, for lack of a better word, fair. She works toward her own goals, just like the other gods of chaos, but does not do so by destroying the lives of those loyal to her. The Tears constantly throw themselves into her affairs at the slightest mention of difficulty, yet Luca has yet to use them in any way. She is kind, and, due to her lower level of power and influence, spends a large amount of time conversing with Kyro and the other Chapter Librarians, whether through avatar of some sort or through a connection through the Immaterium. The Bloody Tears, for lack of a better way of explanation, love Luca, and would all happily run roaring into an army of Khorne followers at her request. Even Kyro, most defiant of the chapter, salutes or bows when she is present. Goals: Luca has the singular goal of destroying the other gods of Chaos once she's gained enough power and making the entire realm of the Warp home for the Bloody Tears and their allies. She wishes to change the perception of Chaos, more into a concept of Anarchy or freedom than destruction. She is not loyal to anyone but the Tears and seeks sanctuary for no others than them. Luca also wishes to eventually kill off every Void Roamer that exists. Working from there, but I don't know how to proceed. Thoughts would be nice, and please be easy on the critisism. I'm having a pretty slow day. Not saying don't, just saying be easy with the bashing.
