Br0ther Rafen
Hey guys So, after having difficulty finding some Simple Green to use on my models, I would like to ask if I used soapy water, one of those rough sponges and a lot of elbow grease, could I strip a mini in a resonable amount of time (like 10-20 mins max), or would it take a long time? Also, on a side note, do you guys know where I could get some Simple Green? I have had a look around, but I couldn't find any in supermarkets and such. Any help? Thanks Rafen Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221790-a-question-on-paint-stripping/ Share on other sites
Typical Cricket
Soapy water and scrubbing will take forever. Since you're in Australia where Simple Green is harder to come by, I suggest using Dettol (I just hope you don't have a pet toad :P ). Soak it for about 30 minutes, and then take a soft-bristled toothbrush to it. It also sometimes weakens glue, so test all the joints before you repaint the mini. Purdy81
Ive been using Dettol to strip Metal & Plastic miniatures as Im in the uk, its fantastic stuff, generally tend to leave them in soak over night then the paint just comes off with minimal fuss, make sure you get the original brown dettol not the new fancy pink and green perfumed stuff as it didn't work for me Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221790-a-question-on-paint-stripping/#findComment-2649765 Share on other sites
Dr Duck
I use Brake Fluid for my plastics or Plastic/metals, its not perfect especially on older plastics but it does get there if you soak it eventually. Paint stripper all the way for full metal models, especially if you want to 'unglue' them Don't put resins in their though.. they go soft for some odd reason!
