Debauchery101 Posted February 7, 2011 Share Posted February 7, 2011 well heres some updates on my progress. the brass scorpion here is made from just defiler parts based off of the one shown in the Apoc book. i actually built part of this when i first saw a preview of the book. well the LPC has motivated me to finish the build and paint this bad boy. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a130/hammered187/GEDC0180.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a130/hammered187/GEDC0200.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a130/hammered187/GEDC0205.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a130/hammered187/GEDC0209.jpg i started with brazen brass coat over the whole model then did a heavier type drybrush with burnished gold and a light drybrush with mithril silver/burnished gold. im by no mean near the end of the metallics on this guy. i just wanted to get a good base color and with the added MS/BG drybrush on the edges it helps me do kind of reverse highlight/shade the metal. i still havent made up my mind on how aged i want the brass too look. im going to finish the armor plates and reds then see how that turns out before making a choice. the idea for the magma scaling i got from Boltgun's magmatrax model. hes got a tutorial on that and NMM gold if you might be interested. here is a concept picture for the plague tower. i plan to pretty much scratch build this from card and wood. i would have started this first but im not sure how large i should make this. i really want to have the boarding plank that can drop down and have models on it while the tower is assaulting a building or fortified wall. tho in order to do that i will need to greatl increase the size from the Apoc reload picture. im thinking 20 inches tall or so. it has 6 structure points so i figure i could get away with it being close to a reavers size. i want to have like a 10 inch plank that should be hinged about 8-10 inches from the ground. also im not sure about the tracks, it might be a bit outta my league or rather time consuming to get it done on time and looking good. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a130/hammered187/GEDC0210.jpg comments, critics and suggestions welcome Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Bewlay Posted February 7, 2011 Share Posted February 7, 2011 The Brass Scorpion looks great, doesn't look very bronze (which I prefer) but that might be the picture. The Plague Tower looks like it's going to be a monster to build, do you have any idea on what bitzs your going to use? If i may suggest one, I believe there's an Ork tank that has the same tracks, if that helps. Or maybe the WFB Skaven Screaming Bell? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Solid Zaku Posted February 7, 2011 Share Posted February 7, 2011 Look up the Ork 'Kil' class tanks, as they have a nifty tread pattern that look similar to what you're looking for. For the body of the thing, try kitbashing parts from the Warhammer Siege Tower, Warhammer Manor House, and possibly parts from the Arcane Ruins or Witchfate Tor sets. Debauchery101 Posted February 7, 2011 Author Share Posted February 7, 2011 i really wanted to scratch build this. also i didnt want to buy anymore models just for this. the tracks, i think ill make them too because i cant find anything that will be the size i need. i want mine to be huge. but i am also wondering if i should make the pus cannon full mechanical or like some mutant flesh style.
