The 40k Hobbiest
And why cast it? Well why would you want one thunderhawk when you can have a whole fleet of them :( One Thunderhawk Gunship: $649.65 USD Number of Thunderhawks in the Ultramarines Fleet: 31 Buying the entire Ultramarines Thunderhawk fleet: $20,139.15 Getting over on Forge World: Priceless THAT'S why you cast them. And given the math I just did, I'd really like to know exactly how much this project is going to cost you, if you don't mind me asking. orion thunderer
on a slightly different note im making 5 hawk chasis in school tomorow and as i have some plans i wondered: hmm could i sell these legit or would that be a tad IP infringing? there realy easy to do and i guess it wouldnt be that bad because you still need to make all the detail and get the guns yourself. im rambling, sorry, awsome awsome thunderhawk but by the sound of it forge world would be cheaper Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221848-thunderhawk-scratch-build/page/2/#findComment-2738922 Share on other sites

Just a tad. If you made something on your own that maybe resembled a T-Hawk a little bit, but obviously wasn't, like Scibor's "sci-fi knights" aren't exact copies of marines, that would be one thing. But if it's a home made copy of a Thunderhawk, yeah, you could be sued easily, and I have no doubt GW would happily sic a team of lawyers on you. koran
I know this is a pretty ancient thread but Ive had a few messages asking how this project is going so thought I would reply here. The answer is that a bit more has been done but then I had to stop again. Basically Ive had a lot of studying to do but over the summer I had a little free time to make the main wing (which is the same on either side so when replicated will be both wings) and the top section where the cannon comes out of. http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m16/NeilCollins_/Thunderhawk/DSCF4715.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m16/NeilCollins_/Thunderhawk/DSCF4716.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m16/NeilCollins_/Thunderhawk/DSCF4717.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m16/NeilCollins_/Thunderhawk/DSCF4718.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m16/NeilCollins_/Thunderhawk/DSCF4719.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m16/NeilCollins_/Thunderhawk/DSCF4720.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m16/NeilCollins_/Thunderhawk/DSCF4721.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m16/NeilCollins_/Thunderhawk/DSCF4722.jpg Unfortunately after getting these done I was back to work (as well as getting stuck into flames of war) which has left me without any time to spend on it. I also didnt have any of the room needed to get casting up the wings so that hasnt happened yet). I really need to get some free time and some motivation to get this done. Especially seeing as all that needs doing is casting the wings and top then making (and casting) the forward wing, sponson mount, front hatch, gun and landing "feet".
