LoneSniperSG
Yes. Durfast of Mordrak, from way back in 2nd edition Wolves book. I'd never heard of this hero until today. Article found here: http://www.angelfire.com/biz6/ordo/stuff/durfast.html So I'm wondering if any of the old, grizzled wolves players still use him today? Demonslayer
I don't remember him but my memory is bad :) I think he was just a made up Character and not official and only used for friendly games Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221930-durfast-of-mordrak/#findComment-2651976 Share on other sites
Wolf Priest Haelaeif
I remember him. I could look into my old SW codex, I'm sure I'd find him. As I do not play SW anymore, I do not use him, though. I think I did use him (using the old wolf helm captain model) a few times in 2nd Ed. Or at least I used his helmet, which was a wargear card available to all characters back then. obs0l3te
ahh back in the day ... The second edition entry is Wolf Guard Durfast of Mordrak. The Helm of Durfast (which still resides in the fang according) would allow any shooting roll of a miss to be rerolled. But you could not reroll a one. (Worthless item now... seeing as his BS is a 5) The helm was made in The Fang. I Assume its some sort of "Golden age of technology" type thing. They never made a character for this guy. There is also Wolf Guard Ranulf and WolfLord Kyrl Grimblood. Never made characters for these guys either. Both have cool back stories. MaveriK
yup, those were the days! along side cool wargear like the hood of darkness and the plasma blade. I remember someone made a Ranulf model using a bloodbowl special character in an old white dwarf. It looked pretty decent. Valerian
GW never made an actual specific model for him, and he hasn't had rules since 2nd Edition, so I doubt anybody has tried to use him in over a decade. Even back then I don't remember ever using him, although I might have used some of his wargear cards. @Mav, you are probably thinking of Kim Syberg, who had a featured army in White Dwarf back then, with tons of great conversions including a monstrous Ranulf. Wolf Priest Haelaeif
(Worthless item now... seeing as his BS is a 5) But back then, there were to-hit-modifiers instead of cover saves, so with that helmet, he could often pull of shooting stunts others couldn't. To adapt the item to 5th edition, it should therefore make the enemy reroll successful cover saves, for example. Was that not Ranulf? It does sound a lot like Ranulf to me. Durfast went on to lead his own Great Company, but the 2nd ed codex doesn't say anything about his death. Was that not Ranulf? It does sound a lot like Ranulf to me. Durfast went on to lead his own Great Company, but the 2nd ed codex doesn't say anything about his death. Ranulf was the one killed by the Orks and revered as a god, but yes Ranulf, Durfast, and Kyrl Grimblood were all three "historical figures" who were dead in the current timeline ( about 994M40) at that time. There being "dead" however had no real bearing on the game, as it was expected and encouraged to play games represented present and past battles; he'll many folks here have "pre-Heresy" armies, whose warriors have been dead for 10,000 years. These three aren't the only historical figures in the game, either: Captain Tycho is dead, Eldrad Uthuan is dead, and Sergeant Lysander was dead, until he was retconned to have just been lost in the Warp.
