Kid Famous The Punch
So a good friend of mine is starting her own warhammer 40,000 army after I introduced her to the game. She has always liked the Luna Wolves that I'd been playing with so now that she finally started into 40k (which is still more like a tip toe than a full dive) she's going to be playing beakies first. She decided that the Blood Angels book, would be a good spring board for the kind of force she'd like to play. "currently discussing her army with Kid Famous... main requirements: jetpacks and beating faces in." So in honor of her induction into the great halls of honor I decided I would present her with a Captain to start her off, (as well as some paints books and marines). She picked out the color scheme for the chapter herself. Vindicating Sapphires http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/xx194/ginocoolowski2020/edfasdfas.jpg So the trick? She wanted it to be a girl, and I thought it would be more fitting for it to be a portrait (as best as I could manage that). I know that there aren't girl marines (necessarily). But she can be from the Luna Wolves' story line/phantom zone/bobsled team. I think the end result is pretty lovely. :P What do you think? http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/xx194/ginocoolowski2020/CptBecky001.jpg http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/xx194/ginocoolowski2020/CptBecky004.jpg http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/xx194/ginocoolowski2020/CptBecky003.jpg http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/xx194/ginocoolowski2020/CptBecky002.jpg http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/xx194/ginocoolowski2020/CptBecky005.jpg http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/xx194/ginocoolowski2020/CptBecky006.jpg I have to touch up a few things, and that blue came out a bit darker than expected. But I like the crane motif. But I've never been big on blues lol. I'm not sure what else I will be making for her army but other pieces might crop up here. Comments Concerns Welcome As Always! Noctus Cornix
Heresy.... Absolute heresy.... Good model though, even though it is impossible to have female space marines. :P You did a nice job on the blues but may I suggest that you maybe gs some cable wires connecting the lightning claws to the power armour? Other wise those giant nubs on the bottom on the bottom of the fist just sit there and look awkward. May I also possibly suggest some gold on the armor? Just to give it some oomph to help it stand out opposed to the other marines. Ya know, give it that captain feel to her. Just my two copper skulls. Kid Famous The Punch
Holy Terra! I totally forgot to glue those back on lmao. Good Looking Out! I cut the claws from the Terminator Sprue and attached them to regular arms, the chords are sitting in front of me.... Better plug those claws in. lol And as far as gold goes she has that Crux Purity seal, but I was under orders not to use a lot of gold. I wanted to have the rims be gold. I still think I'm going to go back and add some more free hand details, numbers badges, chevrons on the jump pack exhaust to make her stand out a bit more. darthgus
Why is she naked? I mean obviously you have skills, you made and painted this model, but why would you make her without armour, or with sci-fi equivalent of a chain mail bra and panty set? If there was a central theme to all marines (and sisters of battle) its that they are armoured. Noctus Cornix
Glad to help with that. :P Well if she doesn't want gold, not much you can do about that, but yeah I agree putt more free hand work on the model will really help let it stand out. Perhaps even adding more icons and symbols on the jump could help too. cathar the great
(Half-)Nakedness is just part of the anime/manga style you are going for, which makes it work quite nicely. Definitely one of your best female Marine minis to date. I also really like the smaller details, like the hairband and the wing on the knee pad. And now to wait for the female-marine haters ^^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221974-vindicating-sapphires/#findComment-2652429 Share on other sites

Olgerth Istaarn
Right; let us know how she reacts to being given a female mini that wears no pants of any sort. I heard women take umbrage to that. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221974-vindicating-sapphires/#findComment-2652590 Share on other sites

CosmicCreations
Well.....it's an interesting look to say the least! I think you should at least give her some armoured knickers or something! But forgetting the nakedness, well done <_<. Nicely painted, not too sure on the scheme myself but each to their own :P Daniel Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/221974-vindicating-sapphires/#findComment-2652671 Share on other sites
