Is this too far fetched?

Oh well anyway,

I was wondering: would it be too far fetched for a Renegade Space Marine Chapter hiding out on a Space Hulk or are all Space Hulks infested by Genestealers?

Orks often infest hulks too.

Space Marine Chapters are actually the principal organisation responsible for purging hulks - no other force has the capability across the board.

So yes, it's a possibility because they could have purged the hulk themselves.

Ah, well that fits in nicely with the 'use the area past the Bulkheads for Scout training' idea I had. And these things are sometimes the size of Hive cities right? Its not like they're cramped together or anything...

*goes to find info on Space Hulks*

A hulk is generally an amalgamam of ships that have been crushed and warped together after travelling for years in the warp before getting pushed back into real space.

Don't forget asteroids/rocks and other debris thats collided in the space hulks path. Normally they're either empty (and full of bodies ;), infested with orks or infested with nids, mainly genestealers. Wouldn't be a suprise for a Chapter to decide to empty the hulk if it's infested and heading for a world of theirs.

Aye, but why complicate things at this stage.. Besides, he was going to hunt so I thought I'd give a little tidbit ;)

If you are making a *Renegade* chapter, then I see no issues with it. Hiding in some abandoned hulk sounds like a pretty fair idea. Like others have said, you'd probably have to clear it out but that's what Astartes do, good or bad.

Things to think about:

- How much of the hulk functions? This could be a quick way to over-awesome-ize your warband. Also, does it have the ability to manuever itself or does it just float around affected by various gravity pulls?

- What happens when someone else decides to check it out?

- Be very careful not to over do it (e.g. the Soul Drinkers). If find yourself possessing untold firepower, the ability to use alien space craft, and all of the facilities you could ever want or need...you may have to bring 'er down a notch. This is somewhere you fled to, not the retirement fortress you've been planning for decades.

Good luck!

No, definitely not.

Here's a link to an earlier thread about it. Some very useful ideas in there.

Hmmm I read that thread, and unless its in code, there's no mentioning of Space Hulks or whatnots.

I've read the Guide to IA stickie and am now reading the Octaguide too, but that still doesn't mention Space Hulks or anything.

Any knowledge you people have on Space Hulks is welcome too. I think mine'll be Ork infested. Less digging through the floor and getting you in your sleep than when full of 'Stealers too.
