Parcival
Sorry for being stupid and steering off topic for a little, but do you put the chapter banner onto the guy who is already loaded with TH/SS and still make him look good? Right now the idea of putting a smaller banner onto his jetpack pops into my head, but I'm not sure if this looks good. BLACK BLΠFLY
I like to use a backpack banner on the model with the thunderhammer and stormshield. It is easy and looks quite good. Here is a picture of my Vanguard vets to give you an idea... http://www.gmmstudios.com/pictures/modelphotos/kr11.jpg ;) G :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/222082-bols-stormraven-tactical-article/page/2/#findComment-2655379 Share on other sites

BLACK BLΠFLY
I would like to note that while I modeled them including many conversions they were painted on commission by my very good friend Brandon Palmer over at GMM Studios. Thanks for the kudos Corby. G Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/222082-bols-stormraven-tactical-article/page/2/#findComment-2655386 Share on other sites

liberate_tutame
I'd just like to say while most, including Black Orange himself, will ignore Leksington's excellent critique, I did not. You would be a better writer if you paid close attention to what he says, Black Orange. Kudos on the article. BigBaals
I thought the article was great. I'm willing to bet you have more experience with the Stormraven than any of the yahoos that are giving you flack. Sounds like they're a little jealous, and they have too much time on there hands. Great job! I'll be using mine tonight for the first time. Going with the MM, PC, EA build. Carrying a Furioso with BT, Hvy Flm, and EA + Sang. Guard w/ PF, IPx2. We'll see how it works! BLACK BLΠFLY
Thanks BB. The test of time will prove whether or not the Stormraven is worth it's points. Grey Knights are just around the corner so that might help them since their new codex will coincide with the release of the gunship. I tend to embrace the new elements so it was an easy decision for me to give it a spin around the block. BigBaals
Here's my experience tonight with it: It's awesome. 5 out of 5. I played against Necrons. The only thing I deployed on the table was my Raven with Sang. Guard and Furioso. The extra armor is a MUST HAVE. If you're using a SR without EA, you're wrong. My opponent took his turn one to teleport something over to my Raven... glances it 4 times. Weapon destroyed, stunned, stunned, shaken. He takes the Plasma Cannon. My turn 1... Furioso pops out - attacks that squad. The SR zooms to the main body of his force, takes a pot shot with the TL MM, kills a Necron. Turn two rolls around - the SR takes 36 shots give or take. 5-6 Glances total. Again, PotMS + EA + AV12 + Flat Out Cover Save.... another round of shooting that I weathered and really didn't care about. I loose the MM. Who cares, it's Necrons, I'm not shooting the Monolith anyway. Turn 2 - everything arrives except the Vanguard. The Sang. Guard with Priest get out of the SR and close combat commences. What a combination. Phase out turn 4 - the Bloodstrike missiles took out 4 Necrons for the phase out since I didn't shoot anything during turn 3. Off topic, The Vanguard reserve rolls were the WORST I've ever seen. Turn 2: 1...2... not in... Turn 3: 1...2 not in.... Turn 4: 1...2...IN! And the Necrons are phased before the Assault phase. That was 410 points of my army that didn't do a thing. So I won with 1590 points. Astorath is another amazing element. He took out around 15 Warriors by himself, maybe more. Bestowing Red Thirst at 50% to the Furioso, Honor Guard, and Vanguard is just amazing. daboarder
I put it this way...my most common opponent is tau, I can kill 2 hammerhead with 3 RAS on the drop and even if my VV cant catch those Broadsides with HI then so long as my ravens have nuked to crisis suits they've done their job and "ve crippled the crucial elements of my opponents army at wich point I can reliably lose both ravens and a squad or 2 squads and a raven and still come out on top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/222082-bols-stormraven-tactical-article/page/2/#findComment-2656279 Share on other sites
