Recently, I faced a problem when modeling my Thunderhawk for the LPC in terms of getting it based appropriately so it won't tip over on it's own.

I looked around at trophy bases, at blocks of wood, ovals and such..but nothing really screamed 'safe' to me; after all, we're talking about a 700 dollar, 8 pound brick of resin to bring fiery doom to the enemies of the Imperium.

I found my solution at a local hardware and home improvement store: a singular, square foot tile of black granite (6 dollars, all told). I now have no danger of feeling it will tip over on it's own, but now face a different problem.

I was talking with a few friends and one of them said that since I don't play apocalypse that often and it will likely be a display model (or occasionally gamed with), that I should have it laser-engraved with the name of the ship, and perhaps some sort of Inquisitorial iconography.

Being so busy with my commissions and work in general, I was wondering if I could prod my fellow inquisitors to help me find a suitable icon to engrave onto the base by scouring the interweb, whether it be links, pictures, or gallery pages.

The picture that ends up making the final cut (hurr hurr /rimshot) and is chosen for the engraving will have the finder honourably mentioned in the post detailing the finer points of the model, and the completion of my vow.

Yes, it's Inquisitorial in nature, but not for the Grey Knights. I'm modifying a lot of the weaponry on it to suit the task it would have had, so it won't be used in many games (not very many people around these parts have a whole lot that can contend with a Thunderhawk anyways - I got queer looks when I dropped the base model in the middle of the table during a Spearhead game). I'm planning on it merely being used as display, and maybe the occasional game, but having a fancy base would be nice. :)

I'd recommend just the simple Inquisitorial Rosette... it's a powerful symbol in its own right, and symbolically governs every auspice that an Inquisitorial vehicle could be called upon to perform. In addition, it's incredibly iconic, and looks darn cool.

Below: Classic Rosette, followed by special Rosettes. I'm a fan of the classic, myself. :(

Figured I should have just poked you to begin with. I managed to get our IT dude to unblock some stuff on our filter (I can look at B&C and Facebook, but I can't look at something like the Lexicanum? /boggle), and have been diligently searching for something suitably epic. Those, however, are plenty epic in their own right.

I'll let this float for a few more days while I let the company test out their engraver on a piece of scrap granite to see what we can do.
