amrogers3
Anyone know what type and size of wire I need for wrapping around a staff or for hanging talismans? Don't have any hobby store around here so if there if somewhere online I can get, that would be great. Here is a pic of what I would like to do: http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r213/amrogers3/Picture6.png Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/222103-need-some-help-finding-wire/ Share on other sites

Prosedragon
Guitar strings look good, but all of them I've used have been ridiculously hard to work with. Electric strings are better than acoustic, but those the above post linked you to may be different - I haven't used them, so I can't say. I used fishing line to wrap one of my handles; I also considered using dental floss - the flat kind. Another thing I've used recently is really thin electrical wire I found in something I was about to throw away. Its really thin but still textured, so in the future that's what I'll use. Picture wire also has a good texture. All of those are also infinitely easier to use than guitar strings. Gurth
Find an old, broken, discarded electric appliance that has electromagnets and/or transformers in it — an old TV or computer monitor (non-flatpanel) is probably best and easiest. Take a screwdriver and some pliers to this so you can get at its innards, and find the coiled copper wire. If you remove this carefully, you'll have more wire than you're going to use in a lifetime of building Space Marines :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/222103-need-some-help-finding-wire/#findComment-2654422 Share on other sites
Griffon Games
And if you don't want to dig the stuff out yourself you can generally find a variety of wire types and sizes at your local hardware store. SimmWeasel
I use paperclips and unbend them there flexible, strong and most important cheap....... Thats just me though also try and get paperclips with the plastic coating because when you remove plastic the clip is thinner than full metal paper clips. LoneSniperSG
Paperclips are for pinning and making antennas, not for wrapping around stuff. They're too difficult to bend into shape around a plastic model. He would be better served by electrical solder (But that's expensive) or electrical wire of some type.
