Wolf Skull helmet conversion

Recommended Posts

I've just had a try to search across the forums and google, but had no luck so far.

Has anyone tried making an Ulrik style helmet using the plastic wolf skull in the pack box? I'm planning on having a go now to try and convert up a helmet, but just wondered if anyone had tried it and got it to work. Alas, I have already used the Ulrik head I had and don't want to have to pay out the nose to buy a metal model to hack apart every time I want to use one.

The plastic skull bit is to dang small/flat for a decent helmet conversion.

Its more of a bit to be glued on armor somewhere.

I just used the sculpted wolf head helmet, and painted it a bone color.

Ulrik wears the Wolf Helm of Russ, an up most sacred relic of the Space Wolves. I'm not going to bring dishonor to myself by making cheap ass copies of it

Yes, his wargear claims it to be the Wolf Helm of Russ, but the bottom line is, it's still a wolf's skull. It's costly and a pain to chop, but I wouldn't think because it is THE wolf helm that it would look any different from other wolf helms, and thus shouldn't be discouraged if someone is willing to put in the time and money.

Other choppable bits to consider; Both of Njal's staff ornaments (power armour and term. versions), Standard SM chaplain skull helms with a bit of putty... or do what a previous poster did and use the plastic skull as a "cap" like the 2003 limited edition gamesday model did.

The paintjob makes it a bit difficult to make out in the pics, but it's not hard to do a decent helmet with the skull. What I did was cut out the "face" of a beakie helmet (including the eye lenses) so it kind of looked like a megaman helmet. Then you cut the wolf skull right at the bridge of the nose and glue it in place of the beakie face, the lower rim of the helmet that would normally protrude over the eyelenses of a helmet become the top of the eye sockets, the wolf skull forms the sides and bottom of the sockets. Using a good liquid plastic glue means you don't have any gap-filling to do and you can take a knife or file and shape the sockets so there is no seam and viola!

@MaleOpener, my reply was referring to the OP.

"Ulrik wears the Wolf Helm of Russ, an up most sacred relic of the Space Wolves. I'm not going to bring dishonor to myself by making cheap ass copies of it" - MaleOpener.

"I really like the idea with the beakie helmet, and the pics, and will try them myself." - MaleOpener.

:D so how do you like them apples? LOL just teasin! :P

the Ulrik model make two different wolf priest if you cut of the helm correctly. I used on here with my wolf priest termie http://i863.photobucket.com/albums/ab196/DeathKnight2000/0432.jpg the after body and the rest you can drill out the neck and ad any head to it to make a generic wolf priest. hope that helps
