biglou666
I have had been scraping jaws off the floor in my wip thread, because so many people liked my Stormraven's turret, which i converted. So, here is my simple, and quick guide to making my superior turret design. it really isnt hard at all, provided you have the pieces. http://i868.photobucket.com/albums/ab249/biglou666/Bloodangels015.jpg - http://i868.photobucket.com/albums/ab249/biglou666/stormraven014-1.jpg So, here are the ingredients. 1 stormraven kit, 1 mk1 razorback hull plate, and one Space marine vehicle gun emplacement. Perhaps the one difficult part to get hold of may be the razorback hull, as it is out of production, but you should be able to find it on ebay or bitz websites. Step one, take the gun emplacement and glue your assault/plasma/las-cannons on as desired, whichever way you think is cool. http://i868.photobucket.com/albums/ab249/biglou666/stormraven017.jpg Step two, take your razorback hull, and glue it exactly as shown in the picture: http://i868.photobucket.com/albums/ab249/biglou666/stormraven020.jpg Step three, place you gun emplacement back into the turret hole. Step four, become unable to resist making whooshing noises as you fly your stormraven around your hobby room. - http://i868.photobucket.com/albums/ab249/biglou666/stormraven015.jpg Enjoy! Please give me credit when people ask. Biglou Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/222267-biglous-stormraven-turret-conversion-guide/ Share on other sites
Sanguinarian
Good stuff, Lou! I am currently at that crossroad myself - whether to use the servitor turret and air dam or use a modification like yours. Thanks for the tut. biglou666
Thanks for loving my idea guys! :P This conversion happened by accident, as i clipped off that bit of plastic that the vent went on, a didn't realise it would look so untidy, so i needed somthing the right size to cover it up! it just so happened that the razorback hull fitted perfectly. :) spread the word! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/222267-biglous-stormraven-turret-conversion-guide/#findComment-2657256 Share on other sites
Quixus
Do you have an idea what to use to cover the hole of the air intake, if you don't happen to have an old rhino lying around? biglou666
sorry quixus, that part is rather pivotal to the conversion, i can't think of a substitute at the moment, but some bitz websites may have it, or ebay and the like. Good luck finiding the right piece! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/222267-biglous-stormraven-turret-conversion-guide/#findComment-2658292 Share on other sites
Morollan
Do you have an idea what to use to cover the hole of the air intake, if you don't happen to have an old rhino lying around? You could just use some plasticard. It would look plain but at least it covers the hole. Whitefireinferno
BigLou did you have to file down the turret or the Mount? Because My Razor turrets do not fit. biglou666
inferno, yes you have to file or clip down that odd shape on the back of the raven, but then the razorback hull should fit. If your having problems after that, PM me a picture and ill explain whats wrong :P biglou. TrentL
I think I'm one of the few people who don't mind the other turret, and I wonder with this one laying so close to the top how you'll be able to draw line of sight to models lower? Saphos
Well done. I don't really like the old Rhino part, but with paint that probably even looks fine to me. I do like the default setup but this is a good solution for those who don't. Brother Nihm
Do you have an idea what to use to cover the hole of the air intake, if you don't happen to have an old rhino lying around? You could just use some plasticard. It would look plain but at least it covers the hole. You could always spruce it up to make it look less plain by using additional plasticard linings, glued on bits etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/222267-biglous-stormraven-turret-conversion-guide/#findComment-2658673 Share on other sites

According to the rulebook, a unit ignores anything blocking LoS in its own unit. As the turret has a 360 degree arc of vision, due to the fact that it is a turret, you can see the world, and for cheap, too.
