Order Badge on Sisters

Now that I have a few sisters fully painted, I want to incorporate the order badge. I was curious to see how the rest of you do this, and what your thoughts are.

My army is Order of our Martyred Lady, so the badge is the international female symbol (Venus' hand mirror) with a skull in the circle. I'm just curious where to put it on the standard sister. GW seems to leave it off of most of their models, which is a shame. The ones that do carry the order symbol seem to have it on their right sleeve. I'm a little confused by this... Don't Imperial space marine chapters wear the chapter badge on their LEFT shoulder? I thought about maybe using the order badge to denote a higher rank, but I think I'm going to have my veterans use gold edging, and the celestians (If I can ever buy some) use white edging on the robes. Therefor all of my models could potentially use the chapter badge.

So, where do you put the chapter badge? Why? Or do you leave it off altogether? Where could I put it and not be branded a radical  ?

Side note: I think my Inquisitor is a radical anyway.

Edited for clarification

The general rule with Astartes is that the Chapter Insignia goes on the left shoulder pauldron as you stated. However there are exceptions. One of them being if they are wearing TDA, formerly known as Terminator Honors. The Crux Termanus then is wrn on the left side and the Chapter Insignia is worn on the right. Another exception is when Astartes serve in the DeathWatch Company of the Inquisitions Ordo Xenos. In this case the DeathWatch Company Inquisitional Insignia is worn on the left and the Chapter Insignia from the members Chapter of oigin is worn on the right.

You know that Sisters aren't Space Marines, right?

Good.

Most people generally do not put any Order insignia on infantry, though as you say, GW sometimes does on the right sleeve. The livery is enough to denote Order.

And for the record, it's not 'the female symbol', it's Venus' hand mirror, which denotes a lot of things, including, but not limited to femenine gender.

I would leave any symbols off completely. Maybe give the VSS's back banners if you really feel you need to, but otherwise just put the symbols on the vehicles. If you want to do squad markings for your sisters then I'd either paint them on the right knee or paint the I on the left shoulder in different colours as needed. But for order symbols there are very few flat places to paint them so I've left them off completely.

Random Guy

I've always done it on the right sleeve, because that's where the artwork in the Codices puts it :tu: Apparently they just don't use the same heraldry rules as Space Marines, which really isn't that surprising to be honest. They're not Space Marines
When I first read the title to this topic, I thought it was refering to a squad of sisters allied into a marine force and they'd adopted a common campaign badge with the chapter. Maybe they were sharing the Imperial Campaign designator with a crusade force of Astartes.

I added the transfer onto the right sleeve of the models had painted. In my opinion it looks really good! Gives them that little something extra and helps tie them all together further. Now I just have to be really careful not to go overboard with the transfers. :)

I believe the reason the order badge is on the right sleeve is purely aesthetic. The fleur de lis on the right shoulder is much less prominent than the I and wings on the left. The order badge helps balance them out.
