objective sitters?

in my current list i have a tactical squad to hold my hoome objective in cover. whilst all the rest of my army goes for the opponents. which means the tactical squad is on its own. in a recent game a bunch of sisters just walked through them. sure the tacts were able to pop their rhino but after that just seemes that without alot of points invested such a squad cannot really hold against anything more than a stiff breeze. what do other players find effective, or should i just not bother and reinvest elsewhere(some termies could be nice, or some vanguard vets for the cost of a 10 man tact squad...) my list consisted of...

HQ )libarian- jump pack, sheild of sanguinus and unlease rage powers

elites) furiso with blood talons, heavy flamer, maganagrapel in droppod

sanguary priest, powerweapon and jumppack

troops)assault squad(10) fist and 2 meltaguns

assault squad(10) powerweapon and handflamer, 2 flamers, meltabomb

assaut squad(5) powerweapon, meltagun, Flamer back(twinlinked heavy flamers)

tactical squad(10) fist, meltagun, rocketlauncher

fast attack) 2 baal predators both with heavy bolters sponsons

im also thinking a scout squad with powerfist to outflank with my baals but not quite sure, thoughts?

Overall, I think that tactical squads can a decent unit to sit on an objective, I would make sure that you can do more than that with them, otherwise, they're too expensive to do just that.

Even if you are going to make your tactical squad sitters, I'd still see if I could find the points for an SP, and maybe a PW for the sergeant in case they get in assault range/assualted. A rhino would give them more protection and movement. You could also combat squad them to make them more tactically flexible, too (opens up options for countercharging or taking two objectives). At the very least, if they're going to be stationary, they need more firepower at long range, too, to make them useful (like a plasmagun instead of that melta

It does seem that your list might benefit more from an elite type unit.

i was tight for points this game so deciided to drop to melta from the plasma i was planning to take. a priest wouldnt have helped, and from watching a tourney the sort of thingsthat were hitting most objective sitters, i dont think a priest would help there. think ill pull out one of my other tactical squads to let them have a go(the joys of a full company...)but im really thinking using my vanguard vets would be a better option considering the amount of firepower i can already hit an opponent with in turn 2... and maby get my attack bike/s back in...
