Knights Bellicose Test Model

The 40k Hobbiest

Alright, let's give this a shot. I've been looking at all your awesome model pics all throughout my deployment, and now that I'm back from Afghanistan, here's what I've done!

I apologize in advance if this doesn't work. I'm going to try and link from my blog. If not, I'll try something else. Here goes!

That should do it. Either way, you can check out my blog at http://40khobbiest.blogspot.com

Well that certainly says "Bellicose," which is something I didn't think could be done visually ^_^ . It's a bit strange, but it works well enough. Your sort of cell-shading highlight technique is pretty interesting too, though I'd recommend trying to bend it to shape the contours of the model when logical (i.e. on his right leg the straight vertical line makes sense on the shin, but the knee is rounded, and thus so should its highlight be).

Other than that, maybe just try to refine the Chapter Symbol/your freehanding a tiny bit, and you're golden :)

a very Cartoonish style which is unique and realy interesting!

you might want to changes the weapons color as it blend with the armor of the model.

Good Job!

I was thinking about changing the weapons color, but I can't think of anything that would look good. My Ultramarines already have red weapons. Any ideas?

I rather like it as is. Most folks just paint pistols black or gray (sometimes red, depending on chapter). Red wouldn't work, and I think black would just be an odd flat shade on an otherwise colorful canvas.

In terms of the colors already present, the blue is already about as prevalent as you can likely get away with, the brown looks fine, and I think green would ruin the highlight role of the color as it stands.

What makes it odd is that the rest of the model is highlighted in a cartoonish/cell-shading style, while the gun has traditional edge highlights. Same goes for the backpack, actually.

I dunno, just my 1 and a half bits. :P
