Token
Im trying to paint a mini with dark skin, i used dark flesh as a base, but dont know which colors to highlight with, any tips? I dont like mixing colors to paint with, would rather use a color straight from the bottle. Wysten
Dwarf flesh is fairly dark, right? Otherwise, I imagine the main way, unfortunately for you, is to mix the two skin colours together to provide a blended result. Wulfebane
If you mean black or latino type skin tones, soft layers of graveyard earth or snakebite leather highlights works for me. Token
hm, i use dark flesh, which looks kinda African to me. Dwarf flesh is probably to light/carcasian, i tried tanned flesh, which is darker then dwarf, and it didnt look that good.. Ill try those brown colors. Thanks for the quick answers. Max_Dammit
I find that bleach bone works on a lot of different shades when dry brushing. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/222479-highlighting-dark-skin/#findComment-2659580 Share on other sites
Bulweih
You could also just wash the tanned flesh with Ogryn Flesh, Gryphonne Sepia and at last very watered down Devlan Mud ^_^ . Or stop when you like the result before you reach the end of the scala of washes towards dark brown. Let it dry out every step to see how it looks to you. If the result has a little shine to it, don't worry, after a layer Purity Seal it's all matted. Alaitoc
Try this:  Bestial brown Black wash Bestial brown highlight bestial brown + bleached bone highlight  Should do a nice african-american skin, if you want pure african, do the same, but change bestial brown for scorched brown... Lord Ragnarok
There are many types of dark skin. What are you trying to achieve? A old leathery faced Long Fang? Wulfebane
I think the jist of it is... if you're wanting something darker than very tan (aka ethnic/non-caucasian), shy away from the actual "flesh tone" paints for your highlights.
