Ok so ive decided to speed paint minotaurs.

heres a little run down of the process and estimated time taken for 5 terminators from start to finish.

1: build and base the termies, estimated time 1 hour.

2: prime them (notice how well halfords grey primer covers?), estimated time 5 minutes, total so far 1 hr 5 minutes.

Cheers guys! actually the move to minotaurs isnt through boredom, its through wanting to be able to play some games fast, and painting my carcharodons takes ages, so i thought i would speed paint the rest of the army, then go back to the sharks when ive got a playable army.

Ok so the squads finished (apart from decals which i shall purchase when i have more mini's painted)

step 11:

i gave the minis a super watered down coat of hawk turquise for a little verdigris. (doesnt seem to show in pics very well, although its subtley there IRL) time taken 5 mins, time so far, 2hrs 10 mins

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z378/RandomSelect/verdigris.jpg

step 12: Rim and flock the bases! time taken 10 mins, total time 2hrs 20 mins.

For less than 30 minutes per mini, i'm happy with these!

Wow, this thread is incredible! Thank you very much for posting such inspirational materials :)

Your light box tip alone is worth a thread or Librarium article by itself. I have tried to copy your method and build a quck lightbox; I'll take some pics and see how they turn out.

Your speed painting on the minotaurs is *astounding*! Excellent work! I really wish I could get that fast - I'm spending dozens of hours to get a six man squad done :P

If I may ask, you say:

>1: build and base the termies, estimated time 1 hour

Does that include removing mold lines from all the terminator parts? I find that removing mold lines takes me a while, maybe three hours per model :P Maybe I need more practise.

Thanks very much for posting, this is great stuff!

Right i have been working on some more Minotaurs termies, (not speed painted this time!)

converting up the round shields was a bitch, i have also decided i dont like resin bases. superglue and pinning annoys me no end.

couple of WIP shots for you.

Please ignore the white marble test. its horrible and the hammers will now be painted black!

Cheers!

The army is looking really good so far. I especially like the patina on the metals. I have a question for you. I have been looking for the model you are using as your Belial stand in for quite some time. I would be very interested in acquiring him from you if you are interested. PM me if you are interested, I guarantee I'll make it worth your time.

Cheers bud, its hard getting it right (the patina) i'm still experimenting in varying degrees!

I've pm'ed you back!

Right today has been thus eventfull!

I purchased some interesting mediums from hobbycraft.

here they are

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z378/RandomSelect/purchases.jpg

Ive since decanted them into little dropper bottles mixed with water, trouble is i use such small amounts of paint even 1 drop is 50% of a mix then!

need to mix both my matte medium mix and my flow improver mix together i feel so i can use 1 drop of mixed.

also done a little more on the termie squad (this is guy number 2)

I'm especially happy with how the recessed sigma symbol has come out (its one of my first freehand attempts)

http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z378/RandomSelect/termiewipwip.jpg

Oh and i really need a drop pod to be able to field a 1750pt army with what i have so im gonna speed paint one in a couple of days! just like this one!
