A Battle or a Race

with fast vehicles, a wide variety of jump pack equipped units, and better deep striking capabilities the Blood Angels are usually regarded as the fastest power armored codex. But their are faster armies out there especially the Eldar. So the point of this thread will be dedicated to how to combat these annoyingly quick zenos when both armies rely (at lest somewhat) on speed.

When I play Eldar with my codex chapter i tend to wait for them to come to me and pick them off with concentrated firepower while keeping my army close enough to support itself rather easily. This means camping on objectives to deny skimmers from grabbing them at the last second and giving up any mobility i have.

If i try this with Angels (although a shooty list can be made) most units will be wasting points which was paid for their speed, and therefore be out numbered. Also many units are at their finest when charging first to benefit from FC which is very common thanks to our priests.

Shooting down eldar tanks is also extremely frustrating as it takes large quantities of shots just to make it through their upgrades. Plus they have other fast units such as Warp Spiders which can not be caught with a normal assault squad if their are made to chase.

So I ask everyone on this board how do you use your Angel's speed to when fighting Eldar, or any other fast army if you have experience

The only time I played against Eldar, I used my huge termie squad to own the centre of the board in a big doughnut formation that left nowhere for them to escape their own initial castle due to the 1" rule and the size of his models and units. He ended up having to charge me or I'd charge all of his stuff after weathering a round of solid shooting.

This doesn't help as termies are most definitely not fast... although they did run. (lol?)

Against Eldar, i made a point to mention my Sterngaurd were all plasma/melta loaded, and then dropped them with a dread.

Needless to say, the dread copped the flak and my stern were fine - but my DoA squads fared even better - i got a 3rd turn wipe.

Underhanded? No one knows....i was the only one left BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHA!!!!!!
