souldrinker1
as stated in the description. i love moulded stuff, but can differing clans/companies have the same wolf symbol? i.e. the current wolf head over a yellow diamond to me looks like ragnar blackmane's company symbol, whereas other company symbols bear different shapes such as the iron wolf or the fire breathing wolf. unfortunatley im pritttttay prittttttaaaaaaaaay prittttttaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay pendantic when it comes to stuff like this cheers for any advice..... if you know what im on about lol -_- Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/222781-forge-world-sw-bits/ Share on other sites
BloodWulf
I believe that each Great Company symbol is chosen by the current head of the Company and represents that hero in some way. They can be somewhat similar if I remember correctly as the Heros usually take on some symbol of Fenrisian mythology that most symbolizes or corresponds to them as part of their heraldry. Crimson Fisting
Indeed. They are Ragnar's. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/222781-forge-world-sw-bits/#findComment-2664174 Share on other sites
Lord Ragnarok
Two things..... 1. Bloodwulf is correct. To elaborate more.... Ragnar's symbol could be retained once ranger dies and his successor takes control of the company. It is very unlikely that another new wolf lord in another company would take rangers symbol if Nevis still alive(that would be confusing). 2. I actually think ragnars symbol is also the symbol of the chapter. For example the chapter icons that come with the drop pods look the same as ragnars. Also, on galaxy maps the symbol used to represent sw's is the same as rangars. Crimson Fisting
2. I actually think ragnars symbol is also the symbol of the chapter. For example the chapter icons that come with the drop pods look the same as ragnars. Also, on galaxy maps the symbol used to represent sw's is the same as rangars. This is a common mistake. Ragnar's symbol is not the Space Wolf Chapter symbol, it is just the commonly used company symbol. The Space Wolves do not have a Chapter symbol, only different Wolf Lords' personal heraldries, and the symbol adopted by the Great Wolf which is always Russ's "The Wolf That Stalks Between The Stars". This is all explained right in the codex. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/222781-forge-world-sw-bits/#findComment-2664288 Share on other sites
BloodWulf
I know it was explained very well at the back of the 4th ed codex, haven't seen the 5th ed one to see what they say about it. Crimson Fisting
Pgs. 15-17 and pg. 80 of C:SW5th explain Company, Pack and Personal markings pretty indepth. I started playing as Wolves back in 2nd and as far as I can remember they've never had a true set "Chapter Symbol". I don't recall any of them excluding a chapter symbol only that it is not included. But you are probably right that gw is using ragnar as the poster boy company. a shame really as fw has very nice bits.
