Puhnupetteri's Ultramarine WIP topic

Okey. Long time no posting

I remade some of my tanks. As i saw them little simple. Speaking the truth the blue on vehicles was too simple. I remade all the blues. Dont worry. All those little details are not done yet. Only the first predator is almost complite. I'm going to highlight lenses too. So those dreadnoughts are not finished as you can see.

This is my predator that i remade (You can see the difference when you look my older post on this section) As i look it now i think it is LOT better than it used to be!

I have the problem with this speeder that i cant decide should i repaint the crew or not. I heard that all marines driving predators should be red according the fluff. But should speeder drivers be blue or red then?... Well this speeder i bought and it came with already green guys.. wich to me look great so im not sure will i just leave them like this or paint them like rest of my army

Another speeder with blue crew.. Again i think that blue on the speeder looks more alive than it was before.

Laura the dreadnought redone. I like it much more. I must do the details asap. Again the blue came much more alive with new technique

* EDIT*

Overall picture of all my vehicles

Hey, Alex here, realy nice models you have hear, well painted and some realy great ideas! Just a lovely army in general.

I found a good way to paint white if you find layering a bit difficult or time consuming.

Start with codex grey,

Then move up to fortress grey,

Then mix fortress grey with skull white and paint that over the top,

Then use skull white as your highlight.

It gives a darker white then normal but gives a nice smooth coat of paint, mix all you paints will atleast one drop of water, most of my painting I do is 2/3 parts paint and one part water, this means that the cover will be smoother.

Keep up the good work!

Massive improvement there, to clear up the land speeder crew thing, they should be blue! Land speeder pilots/gunners are assault marines, while predator commanders often seem to be techmarines, which is why they are red.

Hey, Alex here, their are some expetions to the tank commanders, marines that have shown special skills with vehicles or serving as tank crews will go on to become a tank commander, the best example of this is antarro cronus, he is'nt a techmarine, but he is a tank commander (a bloody good one at that), this is because he showed great skill while inside a vehicle, I beleive?

What about a Rhino stormbolter guy that you can see from the picture?

Should he be red or blue?

i say red, nice army going here, i think the green on the landspeeder crew is the obvious no no in terms of "codex" colours, but if thats what you want, bang you do it.

Well maybe i say those greenish landspeeder dudes were painted by drunken techmarine, And those guys didint have time to repaint em because the mission was so demanding

Or i just say they are colorblind guys

Btw thank you guys for positive feedback! ;)

Hey, Alex here, It depends on what colout your better at painting, if your better at painting a specific colour go to town on that model and make him look real nice. For colours that you not so good at painting, I would recomend getting some spare parts on a sprue (bolters, chest pieces, helmets e.t.c) and practise different ways of painting and highlighting those colours and find a technique that is good for you. I should realy follow my advice though, because I'm pretty good at painting subtler greens and blues, but the colours I chose very rarely incorparate those colours :S

Okey

This was good day in addition of doing laundry 2x, cleaning entire house, and doing 5hours home works I finally finished all my terminators. Now i have 10 tactical terminators fully painted, based and magnetized. So i can play them as Tactical OR Assault terminators. (No more coffee for me....)

I think these final 3 terminators came out well.

And here are some photos of whole army so far. I have about 10 marines that are not in any of these pictures that i will convert to sternguards when i have time.

Howdy fellas.

Got my army bit forward again. I returned to my tactical marines.

I noticed that its almost must to have somekind airdefence in your army.

I bought ADL ... but i noticed stormtalon has more flexibility and tactical rescouses.

Im on tight budget so i tried to scratchbuild my own conversion. I found old A-wing starwars toy wich i got about 25 years ago i think... I added wings. They came bit worse than i tought .. i maybe but another layer on to smooth that tape. Otherwise its quite right size (about half of height of rhino and as widht/lenght as rhino)

Back to my ultramarines!

These fellas joined week ago tournament. Here is photo of that setup. Check my Battle report too how it went!

I dont have Stormshields. And i wanted to make my AOBR terminators TH/SS terminators. Magneted em and added buttons that fitted for purpose.

Made my self combi flamer for tactical Squad's sergeant. Greenstuff.

Converted captain on bike to attack bike with MM. Used my old credit card and speeder parts

Scratch build autocannon for dreadnought (Laura the dreadnought from AOBR)

I noticed i may be needing some air vehicles. 63 euro post stamp does not convince me to buy one so i tried to do scratch build stormraven. PLEASE Comments! I think i may need to buy some plastic card's to flatten those bubbles on the vehicle (wings and top)

Cool - Stormraven is taking shape too.

I'd just say on the Sergeant - you can tell his arm is magnetised as it sticks out too far - perhaps consider building up around the side of the magnet, or sinking it into the torso?

Thank you for reply.

You are right sergeant's arm quite sticks from there. I will be looking forward to fix that sergeant asap.

Here latest photo of stormraven. Tail section is quite tricky. I try to add one once i figure out how to do that (last one didn't hold on together)

Also i find hard to make cockpit with TL Assault cannons on top. I was considering that i just add TL Assaultcannon platform i normally use on razorbacks/Landraider. How does this sound?

I smoothed surfaces with old MTG cards. Came far better than without.

I have decided to get my hands on another Stormraven.

Anyone know good alternative model for stormraven? That is as close as possible to orginal SR size?

I checked this puppetswar... is it slightly smaller than orginal?

http://puppetswar.eu/product.php?id_product=187

I made my conversion using these measurements. but it took like week to complete one.  Would be pain in ass to make another one as scratch build.

(would you allow me to play with my scractchbuild stormraven showed in older posts?)

New updates.

Today morning started painting with hangover and flue. I wanted to make advancements with my more or less truescale sternguards. (Little taller than normal marine, above half head and bit more) I will magnetize these when i have time to be able to wield em as command squad also.
