Direach
I haven't painted in about 7 years or so, since I finished my Necron army. This is my comeback miniature, who represents my Ultramarines character in our Deathwatch RPG. He doesn't have a storm bolter yet ingame, but I'm thinking positive. I still think it looks better to the naked eye than on camera, but since inviting everyone over to look at it in person isn't practical, this will have to do. http://img573.imageshack.us/img573/7062/img0971r.jpg http://img814.imageshack.us/img814/9928/img0975a.jpg http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/2508/img0973c.jpg http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/5806/img0972cd.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/222839-deathwatch-tactical-marine/ Share on other sites
Montuhotep
And for a 7 year break, that is pretty damn impressive! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/222839-deathwatch-tactical-marine/#findComment-2664198 Share on other sites
Malignus
The shoulderpad looks amazing, but the armor itself is too blue for Deathwatch since their armor is all black. The blue highlights on the black armor really kind of throw it all off to me. Direach
Blame that on my bad photography... under regular light with the naked eye, the highlighting is a lot more subdued. Although I personally very much prefer blue highlights on black, especially for Deathwatch... I tried another model with grey highlighting as a test, and the overall effect just came out very dull. MagicMan
Looks nice dude. Very clean and i like how you did the shoulderpad. Is deathwatch worth getting, as a game? bulley
I completely agree with blue on black highlights - which I am doing myself - but mine are much brighter and looking for a slightly duller tone whats your colour combo for this? Regal --> Space Wolves Grey (which is bluey really) --> white mixes? Direach
Deathwatch is a very fun game, definitely not for people new to 40K, but if you know the setting it is a blast. What can compare to RPing a space marine at the peak of his combat prowess? I used Chaos Black, Marine Dark Blue (from a 20 yr. old paint pot; Mordian Blue with a little black is probably the closest current colour), then thinned Marine Dark Blue/Fortress Grey and very thin Fortress Grey for final highlights. bulley
I actually still have Marine Dark Blue - x2 tubs. Its amazing how paints I bought 20 years ago are fine. Cheers  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/222839-deathwatch-tactical-marine/#findComment-2664801 Share on other sites
