Brother_Israfil
Here are a few images of my marines so far: http://i.imgur.com/Ik9bJ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/e8QWK.jpg http://i.imgur.com/AWsXp.jpg As you can see, I leave many parts off while painting. The work so far is a black base coat, followed by a Mechrite Red layer and then a couple thinned Blood red layers. I have re-blacked the appropriate parts and anything that will get bolt-gunned (and then re-touched my red, because I am a suck painter). The jump packs are not pictured, but they are at the same phase. Special-weapon marines will be magnetized so I can switch load-outs. The heads: http://i.imgur.com/khLgv.jpg This is actually a white base coat and then a coat of Iyanden Darksun. I'm not sure how I'm going to finish these off... my track record with yellow is not the greatest. blackbabyjesus
for a nice clean yellow, paint a couple of coats of golden yellow over the top of that, add white to highlight and paint thinned gryphonne sepia into the recesses. ashrog
Mostly agree with the previous advice, but my experience with yellow and washes is that when you try to just get it into the nooks and crannies, it ends up looking patchy. My usual recipe for a nice medium yellow is: White basecoat 2-3 thinned layers of Sunburst Yellow(is that what it's called?) Gryphonne Sepia, enough to cover the whole model, but not leave any huge pools Drybrush Golden Yellow Sunburst highlight Skull White highlight The model looks almost brown after the wash, but the Golden Yellow drybrush brings it back to where you need it, while leaving the depth of the wash. Brother_Israfil
Thanks for the pointers on painting yellow. I may have to try some after I get sick of painting boltgun metal. Brother_Israfil
The inspiration to paint and upload progress brought to you by Rodrigo y Gabriela. Work continues apace... http://i.imgur.com/ssAKL.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ebIol.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Acubp.jpg I've done almost all the base armor work on the marines. The jump packs lag behind some because jump packs are boring. The work that remains is lining-in, highlights, fiddly bits (blood drops, lenses, etc) and basing. Not very exciting but the terms of the vow say "2 WIP updates," so them's the breaks. Freakiq
Looking great so far, awesome yellow on the heads. The painting stand for your Assault Marine heads looks like some strange, extremely poisonous flower. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/222896-lpc-blood-angels-assault-squad/#findComment-2679195 Share on other sites
