Kythnos
Hi guys, I was wondering what basesize I have to use on my Repulsive Grand Cruiser, as I'm going to paint one of this beauties in the my LPC vow. Is it the small one as with cruisers and excorts, or do I have to use the big base like I have to use with battleships? Vaaish
Any ship with more than 10 hits or has at least 3 shields must be on a large base. The stock repulsive is allowed to be on a small base since it has 10 hits and 2 shields, but if you upgrade the ship to three shields it must be on a large base. Righteous_Fury
When purchased from GW, the Repulsive is supplied with a Large Flying base. Whilst I am unsure of the rules regarding the 10 hits and 3 shields - I do know the norm is that a model should be based on the base it is supplied with. Hope that helps! Vaaish
it's in the FAQ: Any ship or defense with either 3 or more shields OR greater than 10HP must use a large size base. However, any capital ship can elect to use a large base and is considered to have Tractor Fields for free. Tractor fields have no effect except making it easier for the ship to ram and/or board due to its larger base size, in exchange for being a larger ordnance target. It originates from when the Repulsive was shipped with both large and small bases. I wasn't able to find it in the books, nor in the FAQ. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/222974-bfg-basesizes/#findComment-2667492 Share on other sites
Vaaish
The upgrade will show up again once the 2010 FAQ goes live. It was accidentally left out of the 2008, but for 15 points, the repulsive can take a 3rd shield. Brother Smitty
Since buying new bases was out of the question for me, what I did was cut come plasti-card out the same size as the large base and glued it to the small base of ym ship. Voila, instant large base without having to tryo to re-attach your ships (especially metal ones) to the flying stand.
