The time of ending is upon me.

And so with a heavy heart it grieves me to say but the time of ending is upon me….

As many of you will know I’ve long been a dedicated advocate of the Emperor’s own daughters, the Sisters of Battle but I’m afraid to say that the time has finally come that I’m putting my Godwyn pattern bolters away and my exorcists will be letting their tubes go cold.

Needless to say but the wait for anything new has been one of the biggest reasons for becoming tired of running sisters. I’ve found that with the release of each new codex it has become progressively harder to pit anything other than the generic mechanised list on the table with an expectation that I’ll at least present a tough nut to crack. Mech isn’t my bag, never has been, and over the years I’ve built up a large force of footsloggers that until recently I enjoyed putting on the table. That said my enjoyment has seriously waned and as much as I have enjoyed playing in the past that enjoyment has disappeared and I’ve found myself just going through the motions every game.

It has to be said that this disillusionment isn’t just with Sisters though as I’ve found myself also becoming bored with 40K on the whole. Even with new codex releases over the last couple of years it becomes apparent that the specialisation that certain lists used to be know for has been watered down making the choice all seem a bit bland. The distinction in many cases has become a matter of choice rather than a matter of necessity. Or to put it bluntly ‘Do I go with paper, rock or scissors?’

It has to be said that I’ve also struggled to find time to invest into 40K over the last 12 months due to real life becoming the bigger priority and as such it’s time for me to evaluate what is important to me. At the moment 40K isn’t even on my radar and with that being the case it’s an obvious decision to disband the legendary Order of the ArmouredWing and let someone else enjoy the fruits of my labours (albeit at a cost).

Over the years I’ve been a member of B&C and more specifically the OI I’ve enjoyed the cut and thrust of debate here and I’ve enjoyed taking up the challenge of trying to get some recognition for our =][= forces (International Inquisition Day being my proudest moment) and I’ve been lucky enough to correspond, meet and play against some of the members here. It’s a good community and a real shame that GW doesn’t necessarily respect the opinions of their fan base here who dedicate a lot of time and effort over their products (rules, minis, etc) because it doesn’t represent a good ‘bottom line’. It’s a hobby after all and so lives and dies on the basis of this dedication. If anyone at GW is reading, then you really should take note.

Now although this is an end of an era for me there is some hope that I’ll find my passion again in the future. I’ll be looking with interest at the forthcoming GK releases and if it piques my interest then maybe I’ll have a dabble in the Ordo Malleus, so although this is a farewell in respect of Sisters I’ll still be lurking here now and again just to keep an eye on what the news is, just not as involved as I have before.

Take care fellow inquisitors, I hope you get what you deserve in future releases, you’ve waited long enough after all.

Signing off…

I will miss you armoured wing....you have been a constant source of information on the sisters of battle. May i suggest you do what im doing? Due to real life/money im taking a break from 40k and am instead going to play some necromunda (redemptionists, of course!) as a way to keep my hand in but also do something different.

I get a feeling that plastic sisters will be ready by this time next year (if im right i reckon you and i shall both return to 40k with a vengeance!)

Sorry for rambling there...basically good luck mate and take care! ^_^

I only drop in here from time to time, spend most of my time in the DA forums. All I can say is, what ever you do, Do No Sell Your Collection. Maybe you just need a break and not totally quit. Too many horror stories where people wanted to quit sold or got rid of everthing and then came back wishing they never got rid of some or all of thier stuff. I have quit or taken breaks numerous times, and I am glad I never gotten rid of anything.

So place them in boxes, in the closet or basement, and take a break. You will know when it's time to come back.

Good luck in what ever you do, and hopefully you will find the passion once again.

Oh, teh drama...

I put my SoBs in the back seat, and started a DE army, but I still lurk and post here ocasionally, big deal.

The new GKs look great, maybe I'll collect them in the future, or the SoBs, when they come out, late than never.

Sometimes I get burned out of 40k, and go to comics, videogames, movies, other wargames and so on. That's just normal.

I don't see the point of a "farewell" in a forum, since you are unlikely go really go away from the internet, anyway. So, fell free to lurk and post from time to time

AW, I know we haven't had much to do with each other, but I've always found your posts thought provoking and full of good valuable insight.

I wish you luck in the future - although I think you should get an "I survived 40K" T-shirt printed....

See you around.

MR.

There's a escalating dissatisfaction with GW amongst many of veterans as you can probably tell. It also sounds like you'd enjoy more freedom with a less competitive/restrictive crowd, etc. But if you really do feel it's time for a final change then that's fair enough. It's still always a shame to to see another ][nquisitive character retiring from the game, especially one who was willing to bring his own ideas to the projects hosted on this board. Hopefully it won't be long before you find a more uplifting enterprise worth devoting as much time to, if you haven't already. Good luck!

Lo Armoured Wing,

All I can say mate is thats a real shame, wont be the same gaming without you, and I will miss facing off against your Nun's with guns (and very little mercy) over the Gaming table. I do hope you change your mind and as someone else said, please think twice before selling off your Sisters, you put a whole lot of work into them (especially those annoying Exorcists of yours) and when your new Codex finally does come out you may well miss them even more - You could even use them as a "counts as" force if you fancied trying something different.

Thats all I can say really, been great fun gaming with you, talking tactics with you, and cursing faith points. I hope you change your mind and rejoin the hobby, and if you ever want to borrow the Tau or Black Scars for a game let me know!

Will be down your neck of the woods soon so hope to change your mind!

Hey, I know I've never interacted with you directly, but I've read a lot of your posts.

I just wanted to say thank you for the time and effort you've put into the hobby, and more importantly, the forum.

You seem like a cool person, and I wish you the best!

Go away, do something more important, then come back and tell us all about it!

Good luck, and Pleeeease don't sell your army, box it up in the attic, get a new life, get married, have kids, then when they get into 40K, blow their socks off with your old models!

Breaks are good, endings are bad.

Thanks for your contributions ;)

A shame, but it's understandable :( I'll echo the notion that you shouldn't sell the models you've painstakingly built up! I must confess to playing more with Marines and Guard these days too, but I hope you rediscover your faith again soon and return to us ;)

I hope to see you again when we get the update we've waited so long for!

Hey man, you helped me get into sisters of battle. Relativly recently even. I really appreciate your feedback and assistance in building up a list, collecting the models that I will use the most, and all of the insight you bring to the forums.

I am a person who sold my 2nd edition space wolf army when I quit previously. I regret it to this day.. I regret it a lot.. I hope that you find your way back to Warhammer and you will be greatly missed.

This is in any Aspect a sad Decission............

Better day's to come, believe me!

Have read a LOT of your Post's and your Input was (mostly) always a kind of "aha".......

Fare well.......and I hope, no I believe you will be back here again!!!!!!

Cheers

Hinti

Best of luck to you. I expect you'll be back sometime, though. :cuss And we'll be looking forward to that day.

You don't ever fall out of love with the Inquisition. That'd be heresy!

So, should we start a pool? What should we put the time frames and odds at? I'd put a marker down at less than a month after a credible, public, rumour of a new book. :P

Well, 'til we see him here next ...

Well mate, I regret your decision but understand why. I do hope GK or another codex lures you back in. Or perhaps we can tempt you into some doubles games? (Fancy running with half of my wolves or nids?)

In meantime I'll be dusting off Dark Heresy soon, so hopefully I can tempt you back into the "grass roots" of the Inquistion in the near future?
