Dreadnoughts without CCW

The Storm Bolter is part of a Dreadnaught CCW.

Dreadnaughts can fight in the Assault phase using their normal Attacks characteristic, but reduced to Strength 6 (and I do not believe they ignore Armor Saves without the DCCW.)

They don't.

Yes, since they have so few attacks, they're pretty much boned in the Assault Phase. If some squad attacks them, they'll probably be tarpitted for the rest of the game, and if the squad has a Power Fist, they're probably going to get destroyed.

If you're using ML or Rifleman dreadnoughts, keep them on your back lines and take advantage of Relentless to avoid enemies who might want to engage them in CC. They're not a CC unit once you take off the Dreadnought CCW, but thanks to the long range of MLs, Lascannons, and Autocannons, you really don't need them to be.

Is it worth the cost versus a long fang/wolf scout with ML and term. with ass cannon?

Rifle men dreadnoughts are some of the best in the game!

6 twin linked strength seven shots are fairly devastating.

ummmm autocannons are heavy 2, hence you will only get 4 str7 twin linked shots, still good, but not as good as you made out.

for that i would rather have an assauly cannon (4 str6 rending shots) and a CCW with heavy flamer
