New Topic Rough Draft?

I was wondering if there's any way to write out a new topic but instead of posting it just save it for later? This may not be the right section for this but I was asking because I wanted to know for the purpose of beginning work on an Index Astartes post. I'm nowhere near done but I thought it be nice to be able to start the basic outline of it but not have to just post it right away. It would be such a WIP there would be no point in revealing it yet, but if I could begin work on it it would give me a place to organize my thoughts and figure out how to do all the fancy formatting with the different section (like how people put HOMEWORLD and it's all cool looking with a skull next to it and colored in and stuff and then the section starts off with a big fancy letter like an illuminated manuscript) I know i'm a total noob when it comes to that stuff and I need a place to practice first and test out the designs and colors and stuff I want to use without people being able to mock my ineptitude.

So anyway is it possible to save a post and continue editing it without it being publicly accessible on the forum?

You could simply open a word processor document and start typing there. It would be pretty much the same thing, and probably a little easier.

Yeah I just don't know how to do alot of the fancy formatting stuff that people do on the actual forum posts. I guess it's not too hard though and wouldn't take too long to figure out once I had all the text written down. If i really needed too I could just practice it on some random topic I started. Like this one for example!

Surely if it's just an outline it doesn't matter if it's got all the bells and whistles? I think most of us write up in Word (or whatever) then add the formatting when we're ready to post.

Having said that, once you've been doing this for a while, you probably know how to lay out the formatting brackets without looking anyway and just type it in thw Word doc as you go.

Yeah thanks for help guys. I've already got the outline in Word I just wanted to get a chance to play with the formatting some. I'll just look over that tutorial and figure it out and when I'm ready copy and paste and do all the fancy stuff right then and there. Haha I guess that's where the preview button comes in handy

You always have everything in Word - it is pretty reasonable at picking up Spelling and Grammar issues especially if maxed up.

BBCode does get confused at times, but if you want to play it can be helpful. Just make sure you always have two copies in Word, one BBCode and one not.
